Considering Peter Powell's cheesy beginnings on TOTP, he was quite snobby about novelty hits, an earlier version of BBC not accepting democracy. At the end of the day, if the song were crap, it wouldn't have been in the top 40 and it wouldn't have been on TOTP. It was people power that put it there. Maybe it displays his erm uh hum, relationship with Tina Turner, but then again, she'd drive anyone to violence... Allegedly, of course. Go and listen to his little snotty comment a couple of years after this when Russ Abbott would sing "All Night Holiday".
