This is exactly what I needed to watch today! I started painting with watercolors last year ( I should say I started to learn how to paint.) I have never done any painting before or drawing at all so I’m starting from scratch 😅. I started watching all kinds of tutorials and went out and bought All kinds of paints,papers,brushes etc…. I thought I needed to buy what all of the artists were using( the best) I couldn’t understand why I wasn’t getting the same results as These Professional artists. I was getting very frustrated and I would just give up,Until I found your videos. You are such a great teacher and your step by step instructions are so helpful and easy for me to follow. I am finally painting flowers that actually Look Like Flowers😂 I love how relaxing your videos are,which I really need! I Never thought I would ever be able to draw or paint because I thought I was to old to learn- (I’m 65 years old ) and I would mess up stick figures 😂 My son is an amazing artist and most of my family can draw/paint and I just couldn’t do it UNTIL NOW! Thank you so much for helping me learn how to enjoy not only painting but the whole process of learning to paint and be halfway decent at it😊 My son wants me to show him how to use watercolors🥰 He mainly does sketches and drawing with markers or acrylic paints. I also bought the Flower Color Guide book and it has been very helpful. Now I’m going to re watch this and paint along. Have a wonderful day 😊

Yes! The size and choice of brush makes a difference. I also feel we would usually move more with a big brush which let's you be looser!

Looking forward to all I'm going to learn in my Brushmovement membership. But right now, I'm just practicing making petals with the square brush on decent but NOT 100% cotton paper. (I'm using 1/2" right now; not ready for the 1"). Feeling very fearful.

I love that you have broken down the steps and just started with the petals and brush strokes. It is so essential to build muscle memory first and for those kinds of practice - u don't need to do it on 100% cotton yet :) but with time! The fear is real because there is so much more pressure to perform with better quality supplies! I also feel ur supplies will be 30% increase in success outcome because watercolor is one of those mediums that rely on better quality paper to succeed (with the blends and bleeds)

@@brushmovement I have 100% paper and use it when I have a "plan". Not for practice. Not sure the square brush is part of my future, though. I know it's a favorite of yours.

@jillbalsam2507 brushes are a preference so use the ones u love and have developed a memory for! Then everything else is just an accent to add on to your practice ;)

I absolutely love this! You have helped me so much with this video. I can see that my impatience causes me problems! I often mix some colors quickly and don't really love them. Please be aware of your left hand brush . It gets in front of the area you’re painting and the camera tries to focus on the brush I. The left hand d and I can’t see what it’s being painted. Thanks for the instructions it’s exactly what I need!!
