This driveway was looking beat up and sad! :( Right when I saw this project I knew it had to be pressure washed, re sanded (wet sand method) & most importantly, the pavers had to be tinted before we sealed them. Rusty, first time I've watched one of your videos. Been sealing for quite a while and have really been wanting to add tinting. Thanks so much for sharing!! Quick question, why do you add tint to water instead of to the sealer. Also, how do you mix the sealer for the first sealer coat and for the second sealer coat. Again, many thanks!

Thanks for watching! You’re very welcome. We do the water method because you can rinse it off if it’s not to the customers liking. You can’t do that when you add tint to sealant. We do two strong coats of 2 to 2. Sometimes 3 coats.

Rusty, you mentioned that you applied something to the sidewalk. What is it? How much do you apply? Do you have to wait until the sidewalk is completely dry? Do you use this on concrete slab driveways? Thanks again

I know I was vague on that section. My apologies. It was watershield from ICT. One coat is all it takes. Yes any bare concrete and it will repel water like rain X does to a window. Keeps the home owner from having to wash them every 3/4 months.

Good shit man. How much do you charge for just the tinting? An extra $1 or $2 a sqft?

Rusty, I was just experimenting with tinting on some old pavers yesterday. I mixed the tint with water as you suggested. I used 3 oz of brown tint per gallon. When I first applied it and when it was wet you could really see a difference. However after it dried, the difference was much less obvious. When I apply the sealer to it would you imagine that's going to really bring back the tint's effect? Many thanks

Yes! Absolutely. When it sits it almost immediately starts to “fade” but once the sealer lays on top of it , it enhances that color you put down.

Can you apply a penetrating sealer over the tint? For example: If they wanted the concrete sidewalks slightly tinted.

I’ve never done it nor seen anyone do it. I think it would be very very tricky to get an even coat of tint over cement. But I don’t think putting a penetrator over tint would be an issue.
