INFP is so true. I always talk so much about fandoms or movie music or storytelling or mbti etc. My mom is so bored, but I told her once she doesn't need to listen, I just must let go my thoughts (maybe that's extroverted thinking). Well, and sometimes I hurt my own feelings by thinking I did something embarrissing or hurted other people's feelings even tho that's probably not true. Life's hard Edit: Thank you for all these like! I've never had so many before

I’m an ENFP (9w1) and I too talk out loud when thinking/processing/figuring things out 😄 in addition to that I pace around a room in circles, it drives my ISFP flatmate/cousin crazy 😄 luckily for me she’s a gem and learned that I need to do that in order to think clearly.

As an INFP I just don't really care if I hurt someone anymore (only those who are close to me), they do the same. Kickin' dirt in your eyes. Life is much easier since then let I it go instead of falling into a loop.

As an INFP I just take advantage of times where people will actually listen to me. I'm not blind to the fact that people aren't interested in what I'm saying, it hurts to look around mid sentence and see that everyone has checked out mentally, but it's easier to finish what I'm saying than confront others about not listening. I often feel like a ghost in group settings. I never usually want to be the centre of attention, but if I get a chance to converse about something I'm passionate about I'll take it...and then beat myself up about it later :p

It's also tough whenever you have to discuss something (say, your Boss gave you an assignment/project) & you know no one is even listening to you no matter how lively you tried to communicate it. And it hurts more to see their interaction with the next speaker. Srsly, there is no need for a spotlight. Just listen to avoid miscommunication in the future. 😔

It's not that I think they're wrong, but rather that their argument is wrong. So we have to use fluffy soft cushion words around the evidence because they're attached to their argument like it has a straight line to the depths of their soul and any objection would shatter their very being. But as an Fe user, I really don't want them to shatter, so tact it is.

I DO have high standards for myself, but I also recognize that other people are other people, and they don't have to live like I do. I do have like "rules" for what I consider to be a "good" living, but 1) I follow those rules for myself (otherwise what's the point of having them?), and 2) like I said, I don't really hold others to those standards. So I’m happy to be self partnered and have true friends. Yes I do have very high standards and door slam anyone who is toxic to me but I don’t have these high expectations from all I meet as you will be disappointed. I do get very anxious in new situations but usually find it’s not as bad as I thought lol 😂 love quiet alone time but enjoy association in small groups though prefer one on one with meaningful discussions. I’ve learnt to put my empathic qualities to use in wise ways, where it counts not just use it willy nilly on every person I meet. I have to conserve the precious energy I have as I easily get drained by people and social situations. Sometimes I just want to hide away within the four walls to stop getting hurt from people in general . You get that feeling of going off the grid , getting away from it all ! Lol 😂 But Thank You Frank for putting things into Perspective ! ☺️🌸

As an INFP, it's not that we don't see you're not interested and are bored, it's that we get consumed very easily once we start thinking out loud. Like, I'm going to continue to speak while I can clearly tell that no one cares, because other people become a medium that I translate my thoughts over out loud. What we're doing at that point is basically the same as talking to our selves while alone, but with extra steps: out loud and, instead of the alone part, there's another person to materialize who you're talking to in your head. I agree that it doesn't make it better (and probably doesn't even make sense lol), I just wanted to make it clear - we are fully aware that you don't care. And don't worry, we will overthink this if you're a stranger and die from irrational shame of having ''revealed too much'', or having ''embarrassed'' ourselves after that. While the other person will continue to not care and completely forget our monologue moment as soon as it is over and they are free to live their life again, lol. Man, I hope this comment made any sense...

But in order for someone to take initiative, you have to consider it enough of a problem to take action. Or the potential reward worth initiating the task for. And just because you see something as a problem/reward, doesn't mean everyone else does. :) You can't expect people to see the world the same way that you do, or be motivated by the same things. (or be as fast to take action - maybe they would take the initiative, if you had a little more patience, lol)

I think I started out in my earlier years more INFP; I had the tendency to talk nonstop about my interests, but rejections (and the realization that no one wanted to listen) have caused me to keep most of my thoughts to myself. Overtime my T traits have grown a lot, while my F traits have become mostly suppressed. It's only when I'm with people who I am truly comfortable around that I tend to ramble. Since there are few of those, it doesn't happen often. To most people in my life I'm pretty quiet and rarely speak.

There was a time, I've done nothing helpful to improve my health/happiness, because there was a kind of cage I build myself emotionally around me (to show that I'm okay), to be there for everyone else (or being a listener), while my self esteem was shrinking even more. I put myself down and always had the feeling that I'm not good enough and everyone else is stronger etc. I'm still afraid to disappoint everyone. My sister who is an ENFP helped me the whole time out of this circle, when I couldn't hide how bad I was feeling. At the beginning I felt absolutely ashamed of myself and I was worried to worry others or be a burden. They said that it was really good but when our gades came I had gotten a 89/100 and i was kinda sad because I'm used on getting 95+. In the end I "came to the conclusion" that it's not only my fault for getting a 89 but also my friends since they were the ones who gave me tips and told me to submit it like that. I am aware that it is not good to blame the others for your things but what can I do, it is what it is.(BTW english is not my first or second language so sorry if there are any mistakes.)

Oh my gosh the ENTP one was embarrassingly accurate. Literally today I got up to make pasta at like 3:00pm, and I went to the cabinet and there was no FREAKING PASTA, so I was like…Pft fine I’ll just make cereal… and there was NO MILK so I was like “😐🤚 guess I’m not eating today lmao”

My mother is an ISTJ, and that's pretty much what she does. Just... she seems to have the empathic range of a teaspoon. Me being an INFP... yea, sometimes I wonder if she's actually a robot. Your description of INFP is bang on. Don't get me started talking on stuff I like, I do zone out and lose people. I could talk about writing techniques and astronomy for HOURS. But yea, there are those times when I just say nothing because I know no one is interested in anything I do.

Older INFJ here . . . Frank is right. In my experience, it's been demonstrated over and over that 1) most people don't want to hear the truth, even if you ***KNOW*** what's wrong in six foot tall flaming red letters dammit, and 2) it really ain't our job to fix any of that or judge people for not taking our advice. Seriously. Yeah, we tend to be counselor/advocate types, but we have plenty of work taking care of our own messed-up inferior-sensing heads. Two things to remember when you are tempted to observe and record and then interfere: no good deed goes unpunished, and expecting other people to live by your standards will doom you to endless disappointment. Really enjoyed this vid Frank, along with all the others you've made. Thanks for the insights and the laughter too, much appreciated. :) x

I feel like I have that as a general feeling about the world, only I then retreat into my virtual world where I have a hand in every area of business to set things straight, is that just an INFJ thing :) The following is probably NF stuff going a bit wild (deep mental stuff/'thought dump'); I'm very passionate for driving and when I witnessed friends' driving for the first time I too regularly felt inwardly disappointed in the perceived lack of capability.... of the newly qualified driver that they were at the time. I feel I'm better at understanding others not reaching the ideals I wish everyone was at, but I hold myself to what could logically be described as impossibly high standards but even with this explanation/understanding and the input from others to support that as somewhat fact, as you can probably see from that wording, I still irrationally cling to needing to achieve things at those levels. For example, I've been driving for only 5 years from the second it was legal for me to be behind the wheel of a car, but I seem to expect to match the ability of an advanced UK pursuit (or TPAC) trained police officer and when something happens to suggest to me that I'm not at that level I end up viewing myself as 'incompetent', even though I'm probably a bit above average as I've looked into advanced civilian driving courses/training videos and aim to apply those techniques whenever I drive. As another INFJ comment mentioned, because I don't see improvements in literal minutes I end up disappointed in my performance. Yeah, probably not the best.

As a INTJ, this tea reminds me of a socials group project I did once. I was grouped with 3 boneheads that cared about nothing other than sports, so I had a difficult choice of letting them work with me and potentially ruin the entire project or just do all the work myself. I imagined 3 hypothetical poeple like my groupmates and decided to complete 95% of the project myself and the other 3 members in my group would help out here and there. However, I made sure there was no chance they could change the project in any significant way. Even though my project achieved 95% of full marks, I was deducted 10% for not incorparating my group more and the other 3 members actually got the 95%. This project turned out to be worth 50% of the entire course so I ended up getting an B+ in socials while the 3 other members got ridiculously high grades that they don't deserve. The 3 other members even ended up calling me dumb, even though I essentially gave them those high grades and they along with the teacher messed up mine. I had blamed that group of peers for a long time, but eventually I accepted that it was because I cannot come to a comprimise of what I want and what they want.

You're close, but saying that your group members and the teacher messed up your mark shows you're still not all the way there. The teacher is the one who set the goals of the assignment, so the teacher didn't "mess up your mark;" he/she determined that you hadn't adequately understood and fulfilled their goals for the assignment they designed. You were docked those points because you didn't understand that your learning to collaborate (and, as you said, compromise) effectively in groups, which is an essential soft skill for many jobs, was as much the point in the teacher's mind as the final product, but also that everyone in the group was supposed to learn by doing a significant part of the work. What you still think of as "giving" your partners high marks was actually also you deliberately blocking your group members from part of the learning process, so you were duly punished for it. The point of courses in school is for *every* student in the courses to learn the material to the best of their ability, not for any one student to get close to perfect marks. P.S. Those particular kids might not have been as smart as you, but there's no conflict between liking sports and being highly intelligent. I went to a science and tech magnet high school with competitive admissions, and sports participation was actually very high among the student body. Never make the mistake of thinking that other people having interests that you don't personally find intellectually stimulating is, in and of itself, a sign of their lower intelligence. P.P.S. FWIW, this is coming from an adult INTP who also did about 90% of a paired project once and also got a slap on the wrist for that despite the final product being the best in the class and highly praised.

I can understand how frustrating that must have been for you. I’m glad you figured out the importance of learning to compromise and collaborate with others-even if you can’t always trust them with the same quality of work you would’ve done. ENFP here who’s been married to INTJ for 10yrs. You guys are exceptional at most things you do. The best way to collaborate and still get quality is to lead but allow and delegate fairly and quality check afterwards! I think in future situations like that-you’d get better results that way!

If what Frank has to say here about INTJs and my typing of my brother is right, this makes so much sense about what is going on with us right now and it actually makes me depressed. I don't know how to fix something like that. 😞 As an INFJ, I have learnt how to take my own advice. It can be hard, but it helps so much. I hope other INFJs can learn to do the same.

@@kymelatejasi @Kymela Tejasi Hey, I am an INFJ and have been working with my INTJ twin brother on our differences for 28 years (not a lot of time). But from what I have learned so far it seems you are very close to a breakthrough. You are seeking others advise, HUGE step for INFJ (at least in an truly open minded way). For me and my brother, I waisted a lot of time thinking it was up to me to fix something-as it seems you are also doing. You used the words "don't know how to fix something like that". Perhaps it is because the real conflict is not that you are not doing something essential, rather, the problem may need to be resolved with a less direct approach, perhaps you are trying too hard. I do not know your situation, but you could try re-evaluating the conflict entirely. Remove the vision you have of there being a conflict and actually go to your brother with nothing but pure curiosity and respect. Perhaps what you see as something in need of fixing is not just something outside of your influence, but is not something that actually must be fixed in order for you to enjoy and appreciate that person. Overall, the biggest realization I had recently about being and INFJ is that I want all my relationships to work on my own terms. So that I can understand them number one, and number two, so I can know that what I value most about myself--my overwhelming and constant ability to critique all weaknesses--is appreciated and taken up by others. But to really enjoy and impact others, and not just the manufactured vision of them our INFJ brain naturally produces, the judgment must must be dropped. It is painful to do this because that is our greatest defense mechanism and to really stop judging things as an INFJ you open yourself up to be actually influenced by others. If you can do this, and not fear becoming someone else you may see things that were once problems as blessings or at least simply things that exist and have no business being judged. So the advise DannyGirl gave may be better than you think. I simply elaborated on thier point. Relax and look for things to appreciate, do not get depressed or exited about a problem that your brain told you existed. And be willing to be influenced by others in a way that you do not fully understand. Embrace the confusion of real life and things will change.

When he comes over to watch anime with family once a week, he doesn't even try to say anything to me, so for now I am trying hard to just wait until he seems ready to listen to why I have purposely not looked for jobs and purposely left them (I was extremely ill and burnt out). The Truth > your feelings I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, partially because I don't want to deal with any potential emotional fallout and somewhat out of empathy. But at the end of the day I think getting down to the underlying principles of the structure of reality is much more important than preserving someone's comfort. It's also kind of painful when someone says something that I'm almost certain is factually incorrect. Social interaction is difficult enough without being distracted by some glaring logical inconsistency or bit of misinformation.
