There was backlash when this decision was leaked to the general public, so they decided, after they were already mostly through production, to re-add the scene to the film, but they changed a lot of plot points around it that make it no longer make sense. Scar doesn't know the hyenas in the remake, so the, 'be prepared' scene is him *meeting* them. On top of the rushed production and rewrites, Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar's voice actor in the remake) is not a singer. Thus, the song is no longer a song, more like a spoken lyric poem with rythmic chanting in the background.
