I think the most genius part of this movie is how the character designers realized that Puss’s old hat was way too small, so they gave him a new, almost comedically larger hat, and it works so much better from a character design perspective, and I don’t know why.
@Tranitosaur Жыл бұрын
They also fixed his missing tooth, gave him smaller and more fitted boots and dropped the swirly mustache. At least they gave him the cape back which I wondered why they didn't in Shrek 2, 3, 4, PiB 1 & PiB 3D

Animation isn't a genre. It's a culmination now of multiple mediums depicting images with what become visually 2d shapes. (3d is used for modeling, but it is usually a 2d format we watch it in) Had to make that correction there, hope it helps!
@kjj26k Жыл бұрын
I mean, animation was always a separate medium. There's just a distinct physical difference between recording a distortion of reality and drawing a new one, to put it bluntly.
@ItsJustTeddington Жыл бұрын
@@kjj26k Guillermo Del Toro specifically had to say that because out of touch Hollywood elites think that way needed to be called out. Awards shows(though I think they're bogus anyway) never acknowledge animation aside from "best animated feature" and lumps all of them together you get awesome stuff like Wolf Walkers, Isle of Dogs, and potentially Puss In Boots getting lumped in and losing to the latest disney/pixar vomit of that year and it's a shame. Now that I think about it, Disney trying to trick people into thinking TLK2019 is "live-action" in the marketing might be for that reason.
@a.n.9800 Жыл бұрын
Yeah genre concerns the themes of a story; animation is a medium through which a story is told. Saying animation is a genre is like saying podcasting is a genre. No, it’s not, it’s just the manner in which the story is shared.
@LeBongFairy Жыл бұрын
@@a.n.9800 exactly! So few people seem to get it, and once again, it is seen incorrectly because boomers made that a commonality, since they only ever saw family oriented cartoons back in the day, and had no idea or care about the lack of funding in the industry, they assumed it was for children and thus harassed and shunned eachother and their own kids for the very act of watching any animation past a certain age.. Funny though that I ended up with a set of grandparents that loved animated films..! So clearly they weren't all hopeless, but there's an obvious root to a lot of the misconceptions out there

One thing people get wrong about the Baker's Dozen and their fight with the flowers is that a lot of people die and that there are so many in the next scene with them is a plothole. Only Gary dies for sure. The rest can easily survive and then be healed up by the restorative powers of the phoenix. He for sure kills three during the all-out-brawl and when he crosses the gap there are only eight who form his bridge and one driver. This totals up to nine + the four who died for sure = 13, a baker's dozen. And the phoenix has those powers and can bestow them to others. When Jack flicks away the Ethical Bug it loses a leg and a wing. This lóss of a limb can even be seen if you pause the frame during the "this is my resignation, Mr!" scene. He lacks a leg and he obviously uses the phoenix as a replacement for his lost ability to fly, and when he shows up when the bears walk away he has four legs and two wings.

Dreamworks read the poem inspired by Disney’s Pinocchio, that reflected the company’s message, and thought: “hey, let’s make a Puss in Boots movie based on that!”

Last Wish was a masterpiece Puss was a great character, Death is one of the best villains in western animation we havent got in a very long time, Perrito is one of the most likeable comic relifs and Puss and Kitty are so thisty for each other

Do you guys think the Fairy Godmother's Cottage and Potion Factory should appear in the possible Shrek 5 movie? Because seeing how that Halloween special Scared Shrekless revealed what happened to the Kingdom of Duloc makes me wonder what happened to both of them after her death, especially after seeing how Charming was forced to become a stage actor to support himself.

The workers unionized and owned the factory in common. IDK, what are your thoughts? Or it became a magic workers guild.

When I first saw this movie I was so excited and surprised because of the fight scenes animation changes from the rest of the movie and death is one of the most badass scary cartoon characters I've seen. I wanted to see it before but I was broke when it was in theaters. My mom keeps thinking the dogs name is burrito lol

While the ending isn't out of left field with Puss having learned to appreciate life I still really enjoy the shift in his character and the begrudging respect he's earned from Death

I need to watch this movie again because when I went, I went with my family My mom felt the need to tell me halfway through that she was really bored, and my sister and her had been nodding off by the end, IN THE THEATRE It totally ruined the mood when I just wanted to gush about it when we walked out and they were like 'well...the animation was great'

Well... Animation isn't a genre, it's a medium. You can have an animated comedy, horror, sitcom, "documentary", ECT.

On my first watch with my big sisters, brother in law, and friend; My brother in law described it as a dnd campaign where all characters went rouge, and death was the dm going to kill the one who started it. Also we all thought Perro was going to get the wish

Ok, so funny story. When I saw Puss in Boots in the theater, it was me, my older sister, and my parents, full of a theater of little kids. So the theater is all children and two teenagers, and parents. When Death showed up, a family left the theater because their kid was to scared, and I think more families left as the movie continued because their kid was to scared. I think it's just kind of funny.

Whatever you do, do NOT take a drink every time they say "That's amazing!", "This is so cool!", "This goes so hard!", "They didn't need to go this hard!", or "This is the best scene in the movie!" in this video. Seriously, for your own health... (Drops dead)
