Soap & Clay is a family owned business operating in Washington State, but started out online thanks to Mrs. Soap & Clay's kickass brother and his amazing web design skills. The business was started as a tribute to Mrs. Soap & Clay's grandmother, the OG maker in the family that cultivated everyone's love for the DIY life. The studio/retail shop opened in 2017 on 6th Ave in Tacoma, and immediately began teaching soap, bath bomb, lotion, and scrub classes to the makers and maker enthusiasts of the PNW. In 2019, the pottery studio opened as well, making the soap shop a busy place full of artistic energy every minute of the day.
Mrs. Soap & Clay has been featured on Business Spotlight, New Day Northwest, and was awarded a coveted place on the South Sound's 40 under 40 list in 2019, an award given to the most influential business people under the age of 40 each year. She cried when she walked up to the podium to accept the award. A lot.
Drawing from her chemistry background and her maker spirit, Mrs. Soap & Clay infuses her favorite things into her soapy designs and creates products that are fun to see, use, and learn to make. Stick around for this ride - she'll take you on a great one.

begining looks great! do the properties of turmeric survive in cold process soap? I have hard water, major hard water. sulfur soap? i know stinky idea but there is supposed to be the max of 10% so i was thinking :)

I love turmeric inside and out. Pain relieving, inflammation relieving, and does amazing things for the skin. I use it in everything i possibly can

I guess these are my notes for the turmeric products. 😂 The oil said to use at night I think, but I liked using it during the day because it has a bit of tackiness to it that helps my makeup stick.

I also would love to learn more about sodium citrate and how to use it. I’ve never had a successful go at it.

Lovely soap, so pretty. And very interesting info, thankyou. How about other chelators I have as in GLDA and EDTA ? Can we use those too?

You may discover that your green soap turns a shade of tan or brown as it cures. Would love to see this after a 2 or 3 month cure! 🙂

looked great. oxalyic acid in spinich from when I grew it years ago was told its there but that was from people going on about kidney stones etc...still wonder about the concentration to reach a level that would consume a noticible amount of NaOH? also makes me wonder what Dieffenbachia / dumb cane's calciium oxilate crystals would do lol.

@MrsSoapAndClay can't wait to see that, but I'm having some mixed feelings here. If rhubarb is in the house, it's probably going to end up in a pie or pastry before it ever has the chance to see a juicer.

I’ll share a huge mistake I made, it’s embarrassing. I put a citric acid solution into cooled lye solution and the reaction was violent. I had never been scared of lye because I’ve been making soap for years. So, how does one neutralize the sodium citrate first? Just trying to save someone’s eyes. And yes, I had on PPE. Please and thank you Mrs. Soap and Clay. ❤

Hi, I did the same thing and it was violent and so dangerous. I prefer to add my citric acid solution to my oils before I add the lye now. I also found that if I mix 1/2 the water and citric acid first and then once dissolved I use ice cubes for half my liquid and add lye to the slowly and stirring as I add lye to citric acid mixture safer.

For me the last video you did and this one the audio is very low and hard to hear. Your older videos are much louder and easier for me to hear. I am hard of hearing and no one else seems to be having an issue so maybe it's just me 🤷‍♀️

Was wondering what could happen if adding spinach powder after the saponification, this thing about helping with hard water wouldn’t be a thing at all, right?
@MrsSoapAndClay
@MrsSoapAndClay 3 ай бұрын
Good question! I’m thinking not, because without the reaction with sodium hydroxide it’s kind of a nothing burger in the solution.
