Totally random side note but to remember that C5 is the level associated with Vinnie the Pooh (and thus that the functional outcome is elbow flexion, etc.), I realized that the roman numeral for 5 is V, as in Vinnie. Unsure if this silly tip will help anyone but I thought I'd share it in case it does. This NBCOT has so much to know on it that I'm always happy to hear any mnemonics that I can!

I'm in tears reading these comments. Thank you so much. You remind me why I wanted to be a cota in the first place. I had viral encephalitis and was in a coma for three weeks. I went through so much therapy and when I felt better I said I want to give back and being a cota was how I found I could do that. I've been going through all your comments and they have moved my heart deeply. Thank you so much for being here to share your story, your struggles and your journey. Even after years of taking the exam, I can still tangibly feel the anxiety and fear I experienced while preparing for the NBCOT exam, and I know it's not an easy journey. It was one of the most difficult, isolating and discouraging times of my life and I didn't want anyone else to feel that way. The pain I felt during that time is what gave birth to this KZbin channel and my website. So it gives me great joy and a sense of gratitude to know that my videos can offer hope that you can pass this test. You are not alone my friend. You can do this, and you will. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

As I watched this video I was trying to figure out how I could relate to the disney characters. While you were talking about C7, I remembered Ariel's dad used a TRIDENT. Now I will remember C7=Triceps! I think I was in first grade when that movie was released.Thanks for doing what you do!

Thank you so much dear Miri! ~ Besides learning and re-learning this lesson I had so much fun with you while learning OT again after a long hiatus or gap in the career. I recall so many things from my college studies but it was very instrumental to get to know you during this great period of transition as an OTA and through becoming a COTA. ~ I was looking for something to inspire me to greater heights within the OT profession since I work in physical dysfunction setting and I have a very holistic, spiritual background and perspective, and, as a whole I think I have FINALLY found the missing puzzle piece in the most serendipitous of ways! Indeed, having yet to put one plus one together; however, I am discovering I might not only want to pass this exam and end it there. ~ Most definitely, I am onto something of amazing proportions, a treasure only a holistic therapist can understand and value! I think you not only inspired me but I really have resonated with your teaching system and your caring, compassionate energy. I had lost hope that I could pass this exam, do great in the OT profession but now I am free, and the shift I sense within me is not only my kundalini rising and my spiritual awakening alone, it is a holistic way of life and a lifestyle that is so engrained within me that I sense something otherworldly beginning here, something just clicks and it is very exciting. ~ This is an impactful and wonderful profession and I even cherish it more since I have the ability to impact so many at the nursing home and moreover I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe, just maybe I end up teaching as well but who knows. Wherever my path leads me, I am grateful for having had the honor of knowing one of the best professors in the Occupational Therapy field. Sending much love and light your way, Siggi OTA/COTA🥇🥇💖💖💖🧬🧬

Thank you so much for adding music and songs to the ability to recall> I finally feel like this is something I can accomplish and remember when the time comes for the test. When I was in class I used songs to remember many of the muscles and bone connections and helped my classmates. Thank you for doing this. I wanted to suggest that you sign up for a patreon account because then you could have subscribers pay you a little bit each month. It's free and a great easy way to solicit donations for your work. Thank you for studying with me! Because of the sheer volume of content related to SCI, I couldn't cover every aspect. But I do hope to do a video covering your requested topic soon. In the meantime, I would like to encourage you to review your textbook, especially if you have the Pedretti's Occupational Therapy Practice Skills for Physical Dysfunction, as it has a wonderful chapter going over this very topic. Hi Miri! First of all, I would like to thank you for giving us these amazing resources. I am taking my boards in 2.5 weeks and these videos have really helped me grasp the information that I needed! I was wondering if you are planning on doing a video on the other assessments? Such as ADL/psychosocial assessments? I am having trouble differentiating them and I know you would make a great video. Thanks again :)
@MiriLee5 жыл бұрын
You're welcome, Alejandra! I'm glad you're finding my resources to be helpful and hope you continue to feel supported here. I have been wanting to make more videos on assessments, but just haven't had a chance to get to them yet. It's unlikely I'll be able to make one in the next couple of weeks before your exam, but I want to encourage you to approach this topic area as if you were the one teaching it. How would you approach the topic and break it down? How would you organize the content and what creative visuals or mnemonics would you use to help you remember certain assessments? Believe me when I say that you already have everything you need within you to pass this exam, with or without my videos. So put on your teaching cap and see if you can come up with an epic way to learn this topic!! You'll be amazed at what you come up with.
