Spinning rod and reel set ups for micro jigs, soft bait and soft plastics

Here's a bit of a rundown on a couple of rod and reel sets used for softbait/soft plastic fishing and micro jigs. Find out how the reels have performed after a few years of hard out use. I also introduce a couple of new reels for this coming season. These are the new Penn Battle and Clash II. How these reels are built and prepared for the user is certainly impressive and makes them both ideal for kayak anglers.

Thanks for the recomendations, I just had to my first sea fishing and a barracuda ( I guess 5kg ish) has broken my rod ( Shimano Backbone 7ft 5 - 10kg) tip in 2 pieces 😂😂😂😂😂 , I will give a try on this Veritas! Great Channel, Thank you!

great infos mate, I switched to Penn reels about a year ago. Really happy with the quality and that they are sealed. Btw. I'm super excited about those Gan jigs that I got off you a few days ago. They are wicked. Already caught me heaps of snaps and a few trevs. The pink one outperformed the green so far. No luck with the squid though ;)

I generally put a drop of oil in and around my line roller bearings before I go in the kayak. But I have not used any reels with the salt shield bearings as you described im just wondering if you still need to oil them or will oiling it interfere with its coating? Thanks and good to hear your efforts, quite a few anglers overlook this. The salt shield is a nice feature and from what I'm aware yes its okay to add oil but the great side is if water does manage to get in it won't cause any issues cheers

Excellent video mate thank you. I watch all your screaming reels greet stuff. Your fishing is not even close to the one we have on the south coast of UK (much more boring). I also got from Australia 2 Veritas rods 2 pcs one is the 6-10kg and the other is 4-8kg. They are a treat. Is your soft bait one 4-8kg is one pcs?

NZ Kayak Fishing is it the v3 or 2 that you have? I have the v3 reinforced one so I think they might be same exact rod. Excellent rod indeed. I catch with it Black Sea Bream and also got so nice Rays

Hi Rob, Thanks a lot for that video! What set would you use for both micro jigging and softbaiting ? Unfortunately I can't afford both, so I was wondering if there will be a nice set that would suits both ? Thank you !

You can get a Veritas 6'8" rod which will work for both however use the smaller jigs like the Gan Jig 28 to 35 g cheers
