Spinoza describes very well why sentient beings are not special and must conform with the laws of existence.

Great one, Martin. In 12 Step Programs, they are always talking about God filling up that empty hole and God is Love, etc. I never bought into that, so thanks for your perspective.

Great video Martin! “Then it was that the thought of death burst into my daily life. I would measure the years separating me from my end. I would look for examples of men of my age who were already dead. And I was tormented by the thought that I might not have time to accomplish my task. What task? I had no idea. Frankly, was what I was doing worth continuing?” ― Albert Camus, The Fall “I said that the world is absurd, but I was too hasty. This world in itself is not reasonable, that is all that can be said. But what is absurd is the confrontation of this irrational and the wild longing for clarity whose call echoes in the human heart.” ― Albert Camus

God (spinozistically talking) acts necessarily and don’t have a plan for each of us in the human way of thinking… God cannot love us because is not subjected to passions. I agree absolutely that Life is a gift, a beautiful necessary gift

Martin, I have a question for you. Are you familiar with the notion of God being forced to create the universe to prevent his own dissolution, or something similar? It's a Gurdieffian idea, and maybe it's from other places, I was wondering your perspective on the idea.

I don’t understand the point about our conception of evil not being evil to the universe. Yes obviously not, but why would that affect our definition? Of course by evil we mean evil in its effects on us

God is not indifferent, but the laws are indifferent. The laws are the ruleset of this simulation. The initial conditions were provided and than the simulation evolved. Consciousness is the computer and we are a subset of this information system. The human avatars are tuned into fitness and that`s evolution by natural selection. The laws are computed, it`s not a physical world.
