Spiral (also known as Spiral: From the Book of Saw) is a 2021 American horror film directed by Darren Lynn Bousman and written by Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger. It is the ninth installment of the Saw film series. The film stars Chris Rock, Max Minghella, Marisol Nichols, and Samuel L. Jackson, and follows police efforts to stop a Jigsaw copycat killer.
The original creators of the series, James Wan and Leigh Whannell, as well as Rock and series veteran Kevin Greutert, serve as executive producers.

I definitely enjoyed Spiral From The Book of Saw and I never thought that Chris Rock would have done a serious role seeing as he's a comedian. I think he did a decent job.

I Love Spiral Definitely 1 of my Favorites Of 2021 & Favorite Saw Too, Well Written & Directed, Solid Cast, Chris Rock, Samuel L. I thought Spiral Sucked it was a pointless spin off the Killer was obvious and the traps and deaths were crap. Its the worst Saw movie in my opinion. They are making another Saw but with Jigsaw set between Saw 2 and 3 next.

I saw it in theaters with my mom and we walked out after the first five minutes. I finally watched it and it's so damn bad. Like embarrassingly bad. I think the film would've been cooler with a premise like this: what if Sam Jackson was the lead and he played a retired cop who gets called back into action and decides to get take matters into his own hands after one of the victims was someone he saved and he decided to team up with his old mentor and they hunt Jigsaw down. Or at least have had it where Sam Jackson was the lead and he's trying to get Jigsaw and make it like Seven meets Ready or Not. I just was so embarrassed what they did with Sam Jackson!

I would have thought if you ever reviewed this it would have been a rant. Seems I was wrong. Glad you didn't seem to mind the film Matt especially given how last year was for you. I didn't hate it, just thought it was pretty forgettable. A one-time watch at best just for the kills.

Disappointing. And yeah with his dead partner, I started questioning "wait, what's the game? How is he supposed to win? Oh no, it's him isn't it?". I thought this was gonna be a fun parody when I heard Chris Rock & Sam Jackson were involved. Is it one of the worst ones? Umm, not sure. I'm not the biggest fan of the franchise, just love the first one. I can deal with 2 & 3 but that's all. Jigsaw is dead, end it. At least with this one, it made me curious, especially the cast. So it has some positives. Definitely agree that it should have been like True Detective. You can take the same timeline of Season 3 and add a little bit of Season 1's atmosphere into it. Just get a better director and let Chris Rock team up with Sam Jackson or any good actor. Mahershala Ali and Stephen Dorff worked so well together. So hopefully we get that someday with Chris.

With a couple of tweeks and rewrites this movie could’ve been vastly improved. I still enjoyed it but the writing is very lazy and cliché in certain areas.

I was disappointed with this one, I like Chris rock as a comedian and I think he’s a fine actor with the right directors. This movie just didn’t feel fresh enough, the body count was low and it was very slow paced. It definitely needed a better director in fact I’m surprised they didn’t get Leigh Whannel to direct it, he certainly could’ve made the movie tighter with better performances.

I brought this film from a Red Box for $4 on Blu-ray just 2 days ago. I was kinda shocked by how bad it was. Chris Rock was….. Well he was Chris Rock. Lol And I think everyone knew who the killer was halfway through the movie. I gave it a 4/10

Spiral is not better than 2 or 3. Or even 6. Super disappointed. Was looking forward to Chris Rock and what he would do with the Saw franchise. 5.5/10

i didn't mind movie at all i thought it was 6.10 i liked it because it was different not samething all over again taking notes from Seven, and i liked Chris Rock in a series movie he acted very well in my opinion it was a worth of watch movie not worst or bad or me wanna smash this movie in pieces and plus i found this movie from pawn shop sealed up for 10 bucks if i go to actually store would be 20 something bucks not worth it, found it for 10 nice and sealed i got it for my collection

Alright meh, movie Chris Rock was OK it felt like he was trying too hard to be hard edge. I don't hate this film it was better than Saw 5 6 7 and Jigsaw but still not very good most Saw films suck so in the context of the series this was one of the better ones. The problem with these movies is they try so hard to sound smart but the plots are so stupid.

I respect your opinion Matt, but I found this movie was incredibly disappointing IMO and while I like Chris Rock, he gave a much better serious, dramatic performance in the latest season of Fargo. I found his performance in this to be pretty awful and the lack of Sam Jackson and the abrupt ending really hurt the film as well.

I Iike Chris Rock too, but his so called serious acting was bad, his reaction alone with the stupid look that also on the poster. I like the first 4 of of this franchise. The rest don't care for. We all are surprised this wasn't a rant.
