Colin ...awesome stuff ...this is the best Spirit Island play through to date ...the use of expansion and reverse side of the board really takes this game to a whole new level...this is not only my best game of the year but one of my all time top games. For some reason this game just really resonates for me both in solo and multiplayer mode. Dare I say I am actually enjoying this far more than Gloomhaven ...which I think is putting my life on the line lol...keep up the good work and great to see your wife and friend taking part too...Ric

So fun to see 3 people playing with different styles! Though that thematic board is so hard to see on video... Small clarification just in case, as long as there's 2+ damage, it places a single blight, so there's no need to defend to get ravage damage from 6 to 3! PS. Just wanted to add that the close ups on everything, from the boards to the cards to the pieces, makes this SO watchable! It must have taken you not just a long time to film, but also a long time to edit!

When beasts attack and do damage, you are allowed to control how the damage is allocated. 32:00 So Timothy could have done 1 damage to the city (to finish it) and 1 damage to explorer with the 2nd beast there Hills = mountains. Some cards in the 1st edition didn’t get translated over when the terrain name changed

First of all I want to thank you for playing this awesome game and the way you present it. Really looking forward to the next videos. One little mistake (who has not yet affectet the game) i think not yet mentioned in the comments concerns "Strife": Strife is added to a specific Invader (not the land) and removed if this Invader is destroyed or removed (not replaced or moved). So the strife token in the land with the two Dahan has to be removed and the other one belongs to the town (shown in the Setup icon).

At 29:30, Thunderspeaker defends a land to stop 2 blight from being placed on the land instead of 1. This doesn't ever happen: the rules state that if 2 or more damage is done to the land during a ravage, only 1 blight is placed, no matter the damage total. That power was unnecessary.

They were against Sweden, which does the 2 blight thing if there are more than 6 damage done to a land

I don’t think you should have replaced the Dayan with invaders at 23:35. The Sweden escalation effect only triggers after they explore a land. None of the lands you replaced Dayan on were explored this turn, because the fear card prevented it.

Yeah also I think on the last turn they performed the escalation effect on the lands that built, not on the lands that explored.

One Stop Co-op Shop it was great! Still playing at the easiest setting while I get more comfortable with it. Played it with my Mom and Sister, they're not huge gamers at all but they loved it too. Thanks for the suggestion!

LOVE this playthrough. I would have used a totally different approach with wilds, which is why i love this game. I would have used Fire in the sky turn 1, and then growth 3/4. Always end your turn with 2 energy! Love how you guys are dealing with the problems. I wonder if you are going to try to go heavy fear and try to pound out a victory that way? Cant wait to see what happens.

This is great Colin. These spirits, and the game in general, seems a lot more complex than your solo runthrough, but that's the point of most expansions, right? I'm really glad that you picked spirits that showcase the beasts and wilds so we can see what Branch & Claw brings to the table. It's too bad this one will be a while between episodes, but definitely understand with all that's going on. If you tried to rush it, I'm sure you'd be making a lot more mistakes, so thanks for that. Looking forward to Frontiers! I"ve been close to picking that one up a few times despite a few small disappointments with the release.

20:44 - Holy moly! I have played this games so many times that I cannot count. I thought that you made an error and went to the rules make sure and no you didn’t. We have been playing it wrong all of this time. This game just got harder for us. We thought that the Dahan absorb the damage first before it hits the land. In the instance that you had here, the 2 Dahan would have absorbed 4 damage and 1 applying to the land, hence no blight, but that is not how it works. in or games, we would actually sacrifice Dahan sometimes to avoid blight. Guess that doesn’t work that way. When you added the town during the event made me wonder why you were saying blight was already happening. Now I know.

21:32 Monica shouldn't have lost her presence as that was on a different, adjacent, jungle land. The defense token was overlapping the border of the land plus the thematic side makes it a bit harder to distinguish. Still an awesome playthrough (even though it's 2 years old) 😊❤️

It’s hard to tell, but I think you forgot to gain 3 fear from the event at 20:15, because you placed all three beasts on lands with Invaders.

At 22:40 I don't think you should have replaced that Dahan with a town, since the Swedish escalation explicitly indicates that it only happens in lands that are explored into, and the fear card explicitly prevents exploration into lands with Dahan. Essentially, you got an extremely rare coincidence that should have completely negated the escalation during that turn.

​@@OneStopCoopShop Spirit Island is such a great game, but when you start getting multiple players and all the optional rules going, it's a real brain burner! To make so few mistakes (and to catch most of them in post production) is a credit to you. If I had someone correcting all the mistakes I make when I play, I'd be a better player, but there'd be a LOT of corrections before that point. That layered complexity is what makes it so replayable even without a human adversary, in my opinion.

21:00 Dahan attack only after invader attack is complete, so unless something else was at play, the Dahan (only) dies and does not “simultaneously attack.”

Haven't played in a year but if I remember correctly the dahan that remain do attack back. Check the rules though as I don't remember!

Great series! Does the expansion change the 3-player map layout though? I thought it was supposed to be a roughly circular island with more of the interior touching...or have I been doing it all wrong? Regardless, great flexibility with this game!

Hey, You are playing the way invaders deal damage wrong. Invaders only add 1 blight if land is damaged by 2 or more. If they deal 30 damage only 1 Blight is added. At least that hos i understand it from the basic rulebook under Ravage p.9. " if 2 or more damage is dealt add a blight to the land. This happens once, no matter how much damage is dealt. PArtial damage to the land is ignored". Or have i completely misunderstood something ??

I think this is because they are playing with Sweden level 2 adversary. The Swedes level 1 ability is that if invaders deal at least 6 damage, add an additional blight.

At 8:35, why ist this effect still active? You removed the beast from that land and the card says that only if there is a beast on that land can you prevent building. Since the "prevent building" effect comes into play when the invaders actually want to build, shouldn't there be a token present for that effect to be valid? Also, you seem to make all your choices on your own. Why don't you discuss your cards more between each other so you can maybe push something into an area where the other one then can destroy it and so on? - Just wondering because I'm just starting to play the game and feel like it is more effective to discuss with each other. Or did you discuss and just not show it in the videos?
