I think the devs consider dahan movement a control effect, so it makes sense that Thunderspeaker's control bar is as high as it is.

For aspects that you have not played yet, it could be fun if you record your first playthrough and post them after the embargo ends.

Your explanation of GtW uses a fully grown TS plus one card, but it omits the fact that that way you don't have Animal to initiate the innate in the first place. While the element is right there on the card, forgetting that the power is not just about Suns and Airs is also a mistake people tend to do as they will at some point laser-focus on counting dahan movement instances and forget about activation, especially when they plan a turn ahead (or don't) with card plays and end up without an Animal card they can afford to play. Something that tend to happen even in Digital... I think one of the reasons people forget about such a limitation is because Voice of Thunder exists, making even Digital players think "well, I basically always move dahan", making it rare that you form memories of you actually not being able to move in slow phase. But that's something for people much smarter than me to actually explain, so eh...

It’s hilarious I just played thunder speaker for the first time last night haha! I liked her more than I thought, but her growth options are weird haha. Things can go really well for her or really bad depending on the board/dahan
@Reggie1408 Жыл бұрын
3:12 You can't do any of that with your left innate because you're missing the Animal element 😅

It’s assuming you have an animal!

Not to talk bad about my favourite board game but I've played exactly one game as Warrior Thunderspeaker and never want to touch it again. You lose the incredibly useful right innate and manifestation to gain two new powers that seem so at odds with each other. You want to move your incarna around to pick off explorers with your special rule but you also need your incarna in built up lands to use your new innate. You simply lose too much for the little you gain with the aspect. Out of all the new stuff this was the only thing that felt actually unfun to me

I’m sorry to hear that :/

Does the control stat include Dahan movement? I was under the impression that it was. And in that case the control bar would be pretty accurate for TS
@RedReVenge007 Жыл бұрын
The devs and I disagree on what the bars mean. Yes, the devs believe Dahan movement is control. However, I don’t see TS as being a control spirit. I believe HV has much more control despite having a lower bar.

@@RedReVenge007 You don't make it clear in your review videos that your bar adjustments are operating under a different conceptual framework than the devs, so the exercise always come across rather strangely. You'd probably get fewer annoying comments if you were more explicit about that point.

Thanks. How does words of warning work ? The " simultaneously " part is confusing me. Does it mean that if a town and a dahan is left after defense, they both are destroyed at the same time ?
@RedReVenge00719 күн бұрын
Normally in Spirit Island, Dahan attack after the Invaders. This means if Invaders do enough damage, the Dahan die and won't kill any invaders. Simultaneous means they strike at the same time. So even if Dahan would die, they still get to do their damage. This line of text tends to be irrelevant for TS.
@chicomtl19 күн бұрын
@RedReVenge007 aaaahhhh thanks so much !!! And if that destroyed dahan eliminates a presence in that land , no need to eliminate an other presence in a adjacent land. 1 destroyed Dahan = 1 destroyed presence. , 2 = 2 , etc. Right.?

Thunderspeaker is the most powerful spirit in the base game. My favorite, followed by ocean.

Looks like they scrapped the original warrior aspect which is a bit of shame because I think I prefer it over what it currently is. It may not be very strong but the free push + damage every turn plus extra elements did seem a little different from the original. I'm also a bit sad that there's no way to empower the Thunderspeaker incarna as I think that would have been really fun!
@RedReVenge007 Жыл бұрын
I told them to add empowers for all incarnas, but we didn't have enough time. Agreed, new warrior is probably the worst thing about the expansion.
@Zedonk-yc1cu Жыл бұрын
Telling them to add empowers to all incarnas was definitely wise advice! But I guess it's difficult to get everything perfect especially when there's a lot of time constraints.

Almost every tier list ever puts Thunder in A or S. Interesting that you consider them one of the weaker spirits. Is that to do with what Difficulty a spirit is being played on? Or just powercreep from newer spirits? Why do you think most reddit/bgg/other tier lists have Thunder so high? I currently have not played anything but the base game yet
@RedReVenge007 Жыл бұрын
A few reasons: Thunderspeaker has decent matchups into Prussia, Sweden, and France. England it's playable. For a large portion of time, these were the only adversaries, so TS had very good results. Also people love the potential of having Manifestation kill and smite down a land. This draws in a lot of eyes at the table. In addition, Major deck was very small, so it was easy to pick up some of the best majors in the game (Vigor of the Breaking Dawn, Trees and Stones, and Wrap). All three majors are game breaking on Thunderspeaker and you were almost always guaranteed to find one if playing just base game. With the addition of larger major decks, the odds of finding these majors are much lower and now there's HLS, Scotland, and Russia which all tend to be problematic matchups for Thunderspeaker. Not unwinnable, just difficult.
