Preamble: I say this as a guy that was on some fuzzy line between athletics and geekdom in the 90s in high school. I did soccer, wrestling, swimming, track, etc. ... but I also geeked out on music, art, gaming, astronomy, engineering, building PCs ... things most people at the time didn't give a shit about.
