About 4 weeks ago I heard a track from the acacia strain with a females voice who I coulda sworn was the same the one from iwrestledabearonce. The facial transfer from melodic to scream shows just how much emotion goes into singing with these types of changes
@adriansoul72232 жыл бұрын
Exactly 0, yes. It's mouth position. If youre putting emotion into it you prolly are doing something wrong.
@Audifan85957 ай бұрын
@@adriansoul7223 while you're right that courtney's expressions here are from mouth position not emotion, it is absolutely not true that it would be wrong to add emotion into a harsh vocal. the vagus nerve directly affects the vocal cords, and it's entirely possible and sometimes very appropriate for a singer to emote so that they can alter their sound. that touch of emotion can be heard even through the distortion of a harsh vocal and can be very effective. definitely nothing wrong with doing it. it's just not happening here.

Cool ! Then stick around ! There is already a lot more to listen to : She started as the 2nd singer of iwrestledabearonce. She reccorded albums #3 and #4). Check out "Boat Paddle". That song is a good exemple. But they were goofy as f*** when it came to videos so..... try to listen to it WITHOUT the video :). It's definetly worth listening to. What comes here is my understanding of the following events (don't hold me to it !) : Her and the guitarist were actually a couple and they wanted "more". They wanted to progress/explore/evolve. Much more than the rest of the band. So they left and made Spiritbox. Spirit has a full album already and a few more singles. (including a "singles collection" album in ITune) Check it out. They diserve it. They diserver/need your support ! If you need more proofs though, listen to the album version of "The Mara Effect" Parts 1-2-3 (There is also a live studio version... her voice is awesome, but the band's not as good as on the album version... according to my own taste at least). There's also plenty of videos. I really like "Perenial". But that's just one of many.

Courtney.... You are my favourite female vocalist. As a disabled fan, it took me a long time to say this, and as someone with autism, it's pretty hard to say here... But your work means so much. The passion and authenticity is something I can never express. This gives my feelings life and speaks loudly all the words I can't say. Thank you.

Lol that ending reminds of the ending of Periphery's "Satellites." Serious song, serious song, serious song, and then boop, silly soundbite hidden in there. Not saying I want you guys to abandon the whole "spooky scary, artsy fartsy" vibe, but it would be the cherry on top for something like that to be on the album. A little in-joke for the fans that listen all the way through, maybe a reference. Like seriously, I'm pulling for you guys to include Zack's belly slaps on a track. There was already the door creak thing for Rule of Nines, come on, give us them belly slaps.
@twinny_mi4 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure that all the metal KZbinrs (Jared, Nik, Lauren, Matt, etc.) and Periphery know who their audience is abd love to be silly....we all live for it. When I first heard Satellites I'm like "did they just say that? And it got on the record?!" But they own their own record label they can do whatever the fuck they want sooo 😂

Boy am I glad someone recommended me her! I gravitate towards mostly male vocalists, she's one of very few that just hit the spot, everytime!

Mind blown 🤯. Her voice is both beautiful and powerful. Her control and timing is ridiculous. What she adds with her breathing replacing singing notes and delays is so cool and interesting. I’ve just started watching her videos but this is my favorite song she has sung so far. Awesome wow

The thing she does that seems less common to me and is really cool is she is slipping in and out of distortion, and layering clean sounds on top of her screams at the same time, not in multiple takes. The way she flips from clean to distorted and stacks her sounds is really impressive.
@farwoodfarm9296 Жыл бұрын
He body control is really cool to watch too, how she leans into the mike, deep breaths and mouth shapes so she's not forcing the sound out, she has technique.

She also does it in the middle individual lines, almost every time she screams. Ex (caps = screams): *IN TIME* I learned the *RULES* of a *SADIST* . As someone who's working on aggressive vocals, it's really hard to do because it is essentially stopping the flow of a scream, dropping down, then popping back into a scream again. It's like derailing yourself deliberately.

Clean vocals : perfect Screaming : perfect I appreciate the fact that the screaming is so acurate, we can perfectly understand the lyrics, whereas lots of metal screaming are not understandable if you dont read the lyrics at the same time
