I am a prisoner here
weave the synthetic when wrapping up my wrists
I don't truly dream when you're near
loosen aesthetics remain asphyxiated on the paint peeling back from the door
now I can see you for what you are
she drew the shape on the floor
now I can see the full spectrum
how can I feel existential dread, it's my fear
I am eternal
hurt me with your mouth make me settle down
whispering the words on the wind as they blow
heartbeat in the nest, pressure on my chest where did all the signs of the dissonant go
and when they tell me they pray for me and they lack a certain empathy the enemy hits me so low
so the circles on the ground make me settle down
hurt me, give me something from nothing
this is the lie that you come from
meet me down in the mud
she is the mother and she loves it when we all hurt each other
proud that her children are weak
I am a language that you have hidden in a syllable and now you're refusing to speak
I don't even cry anymore
hurt me with your mouth make me settle down
whispering the words on the wind as they blow
heartbeat in the nest, pressure on my chest where did all the signs of the dissonant go
and when they tell me they pray for me and they lack a certain empathy the enemy hits me so low
so the circles on the ground make me settle down
hurt me, give me something from nothing
this is the lie that you come from
my skin crawls
my chest heaves
punish me
it's the effect of the mara

Easy to say when you are a fan of it..but I think (and this is going to sound bad) for most mainstream minded people..mindless music without thought is confused for good music...what we have here in Spiritbox is so god damn brilliant but around where I live...not many people like metal to begin with.

I just found this band and I cant stop listening. The beauty and pain, the kindness and rage, the love and disappointment, I feel it all and its almost like someone is speaking my thoughts. I am almost sad that I love it so much because that means she must feel the same beauty and pain about life, but I am thankful for having heard her words and the bands music. Whoever produced and directed this deserves an award. It seems they only used *maybe* 1 or 2 rooms, did imagery outside, then did the effects with lighting and the video recorder. Yet, it still created the atmosphere of terror, fear, and being trapped substantially. Every time I watch the ending, it gives me chills. Very nicely done 👌🏾

The fact I just found out she's the vocalist from Iwrestledabearonce means I couldn't be happier. I simply cannot stop playing these songs.

🔥🔥 Show of hands who used to listen to lWABO and found this band. // I first listened to IWABO when I was in 6th grade. // Last couple of years had me busy with life and I forgot about IWABO but came across Spiritbox in the end of 2020. 🔥🔥

doesnt get any better than Spiritbox, they have slayn the genre w/ every track they put out which is pure perfection calming their status as a band, peacocking displaying their pure, powerful, unique musicianship. floored every time i jam 2them. w/out Courtney's talent they'd be like everyone else in the scene, average djent metalcore

Haven’t listened to much new music in years, but this song randomly popped up on my Spotify one day and I was immediately in love. Fantastic music; please keep it up!

Several comments: Wow, what a great song! Love that ending. Don't normally like screaming, especially from such a fantastic singer/voice, but it totally fits the ending and vibe of what was going on. Also liked what the bassist and drummer had going on throughout the song. Oh, and I'd eat that milky bowl of cereal any day. ;)

I stumbled upon you guys like half a year ago but you quickly became one of my favourite bands. I really like the direction you all decided to go - super cool visuals in this video too. Hope to see you all live/meet you some day!!
