I think I learn more from a “talk through” than from a formal tutorial. This is just lovely!

GASP squinting is so helpful when finding shades!!! Omgoodness 😱😱😱
@DannySabraArt3 жыл бұрын
Squinting really can’t be overstated how much it helps see what to do next while painting. These Himi gouache sets seem really interesting. I might have to try them. I really loved the texture you added at the end! Great job Jess! Keep up the awesome work!

A tip I learned from another artist who uses gouache: use a light colored watercolor pencil to sketch out the painting! I use a light skin color pencil so then when you paint over it, the lines blend in and disappear so you don’t have to worry about trying to cover a stubborn line that you accidentally made slightly too dark! ☺️✨

Still amazed, so many colors, details and varieties of texture on a fairly small painting. I came back to look for the size, it’s A5. Bravo 👏

I use acrylics and watercolors including gouache. I use the layering technique with all of them too. Edit watching your videos has given me some confidence to paint Studio Ghibli scenes and characters. I love their movies.

When you applied he thin gouache for the window, did you wait for each thin application to dry before the next layer or was it wet on wet?

Thank you for sharing your beautiful work and the detailed process. So helpful! 👏👏👏More and more I tend to think if I don't care about color fastness (as I am just learning), I really don't need to use the expensive gouache like W&N, etc. There is much I can learn and practice about painting and it's just fine using Himi jelly gouache, so much less expensive. Any thoughts out there?
@JessChungArt3 жыл бұрын
For sure! You can go a really long way with the himi gouache. The main difference for me is that artist grade gouache feels a bit more creamy and velvety
