I never imagined I'd say this about a game, but this is impacting my life. My grandfather is slowly passing from cancer currently and as soon as this game popped up in my recommended I had to download it. I finished the vanilla version of the game before and cried so much at Alice because she reminds me of my mom dying of Alzheimer's. This year, my dad passed away peacefully in his sleep and now I cried even just by watching this trailer. Just like Atul, he passed away suddenly without any warning. I don't think my mental is strong enough to play this game again. Maybe one day...

For anyone thinking about picking this up, I can't recommend it enough. The game will pull at your heartstrings in a way few other games can. You get to know everyone who joins your adventure, learn to love and care for them, and help them find peace. Then, once all is said and done, you send them off with a tender goodbye to the final end to let them rest. My brother couldn't get through the game, he had to stop playing because he could bring himself to say goodbye to any of the people who accompany you. There is also nice resource management on the side, and loads of sidequests to keep you busy for days.

This is a great game to play during the grief process. Maybe not right when it's most raw, but as you are starting to work through things later on. It seems like a good game no matter what, but I played this about 10 months after losing a loved one, approaching the 1 year anniversary of their passing, and it was a particularly emotional and comforting experience. If you know a gamer who is grieving--and god knows there's enough of it out there at the moment--I would definitely recommend this title as something they may consider checking out.

They arrive every time I turn it on but only when the space around me is inviting enough. And if I don’t sense them nearby as I play, I simply stop, and wait until they I’m sure they feel safe to join me. Call it crazy I know but I can’t help what I actually feel. All in all this has become my absolute favorite game. It’s reminded me what I came to this earth to do and it’s almost exactly what Stella does. Just without the boat and Daffodil. 100/10 recommend
