I’ve been up since 3am with incredible agitation, as today marks the fourth anniversary of a very painful loss. There are other worries on my mind, just difficult circumstances. I had a video suggestion in my news feed, and here I am. If I had the means, I would come and sit in the stillness, to learn how to quiet my entire being through osmosis (I have a feeling just sitting quietly in the presence of someone like Mr. Butler helps and strengthens weak ones like me) . I love the example of the potato. I have Brother Lawrence’s book, and this inspires me to read it again. Thank you for your hopeful and calming words.

We are created as spiritual beings the awakening comes from discovering the presence of God/Jesus as an individual person. As the relationship deepens so the presence of God is an integral part of you. Something that is always there and naturally becomes in every facet of daily life. Being still and letting God's presence soak in visually, audibly just listening. Setting aside the busyness of the world and finding the Joy of God's presence.

This is a characteristic we should all build upon in our life’s..strive to be kinder unto others and kind unto ourselves.. This is a beautiful world and God designed us to stop ,and see it ..the sky,the flowers the birds;it’s all there if you look. It is wonderful creation of design in its entirety.

Remember well my forestry days, planting trees on a hillside in the pooring rain and experiencing God's peace and joy in just doing my work. But after my mid 30s, it has sli jpped a bit. Working for moeny in a job which does not give you the satisfaction of seeing a job well done wears out that peace. Even if the job pays well, it takes your ability to dwell in joy

And you're doing just the right thing John by being in the presence picking up the digital challenge and giving so many people guidance in their search for a more meaningful life. One additional thought on modern technological, maybe it helps us to realize in the end that the "old ways of our ancestors" were in fact more sustainable and expedient. What john said is true, if you are tuly present in the moment, even something as washing your hands, feeling the water around your hands or even the act of sitting down and being aware of your surroundings and thinking what wonderful color those plants are or how nice the sound of the birds is, it gives you the greatest joy in life. 😊 from there on you can say that God is always present all around you, its just that people fail to see it. Up to this point, I think I understood that you can feel the presence of God, or love, in a still field, in grass, in nature, or in the focus of the present, say, on your work. I think you can also feel it during your pain, or suffering, as it helps you overcome it, and come out stronger. Or if it helps you.. However, I cannot bring myself to find neither God, nor love, in the suffering of others, be them humans or animals. Yes, you can see love in those that try to help, but I'm not able to see it in the pain of others.

Oh John and Phil... I needed this video tonight more than I could have possibly known. My spirit has been increasingly troubled and anxious for the past week, be it because I’m waiting to hear back from schools I’ve applied to or because of relationship struggles with my wife or because of the daily onslaught of terrifying news and the corruption of the world’s leaders, all these things have created in me a sense of isolation and fear and worry. And I try to breathe and meditate but my mind and heart are so easily distracted. And I wonder if I could ever get this spiritual life right. And all this while serving as a minister at my church at that!! It leaves me feeling lonely and sick and afraid. So to be so gently called back to simply being present, to just feel my feet on the ground, to look away from the screen, to find joy in the mundane tasks before me... thank you. This is what I needed in this moment more than anything. God spoke to me through you and I give thanks.
