For what it's worth, I've avoided spiritus gear for years because I always needed rigs that carried more gear. After watching your review on the thing 2 I actually picked one up and a bunch of their pouches. Testing it now and so far I'm pretty happy with it. Thanks a lot for the info man. Great channel

Thanks for putting out good information man. Perspective is a big thing. If a gear reviewer can't step outside their own personal use cases to try and understand very mission-specific kit, their opinions aren't necessarily ones you should be listening to.

I know exactly what video you’re talking about and believe you’re right. The guy trashing the Thing 2 didn’t seem to understand that it was designed to be a stand alone chest rig. It’s super useful because not every FTX is going to have joes running around in full kit and IOTVs and the Thing 2 basically turns the MK4 into a way more comfortable TAPS. You can tell that he definitely tailored the review to be negative because he has a negative bias against spiritus from his earlier review of the LV119. But I can also see a point in his argument in THAT video when he argues that spiritus didn’t put a full molle panel on the plate bag in order to sell a zip on panel. I feel he carried the bias against Spiritus from the LV119 to the Thing 2 which is not what a reviewer should do.
@lima3dynamics3 жыл бұрын
I agree. The TAPS system is a giant improvement to the old FLC too. And yes it did seem to be negative from the get go. And I definitely would have offered more molle on the rear bag as well just in case. However I have never been one to run things directly on the back of a PC. Always in a pack. Not saying it’s right, just personal preference. It’s ultimate end use is the back panel, you’re right about that. And that’s not something everyone needs. I think they could save some production on the covert and overt line by just adding some extra rows of molle. It was killin me how he seemed to think the OTB line meant swimming instead of just being able to better drain water on amphibious operations. 🤦🏻♂️ we have a 119 video coming soon that will address a lot he talked about in that video.

@@lima3dynamics A lot of people also complain that the straps/inserts aren’t in stock, but don’t realize that the MK4 has basically become the Glock of the chest rig world with aftermarket accessories. To name a few, Parashooter gear makes harnesses/back straps, 8492nylonworks makes esstac adapter kits/flaps/inserts, and WhiskeyTwoFour makes a 5.56 insert with the possibility of installing bungee retainers. Harnesses are basically an industry standard and any would work, just like how you use the velocity/haley combo. If spiritus REALLY wanted to screw the end user, theyd make everything with a proprietary buckle or something, this is why I really like the MK4 and Thing systems, it allows you to tailor your gear to what you need, whether its from spiritus or not. But the LV119 on the other hand…might be a different story. Cant wait to see your video on that 🙏
@lima3dynamics3 жыл бұрын
Exactly, you don’t have to buy everything from one company, most stuff from most brands work together. We have been taking our time on that 119 review. Obviously it’s a good carrier but just trying to cross all the “t’s” and dot the “i’s”. We have two so we get two different perspectives.
@MobileAura2 жыл бұрын
The LV 119 is like a fine wine, only people who truly understand quality can appreciate it. Lv LOOKs bad, it’s the best carrier hands down.
@joeblow92843 жыл бұрын
Spiritus’s pricing does NOT match their modularity concept. By the time you buy everything you need, it’s WAY overpriced. As evidenced by Defense Mechanism’s pricing which will likely put Spiritus out of business. And some of their stuff should absolutely come together. Really, I have to buy the buckles separately from the harness?? GTFOH… 🤦🏻♂️
@lima3dynamics3 жыл бұрын
And that’s why you only buy the specific parts you need 💁🏻♂️. Nothing says every piece of gear you buy has to be spiritus. Maybe this company makes better straps, or maybe you already have some from another chest rig, maybe you just want the thing 2, maybe you just want the micro fight for use with another brands gear. If you don’t then, you’re not buying straps or whatever that you don’t need to just throw in a junk pile.
@MobileAura2 жыл бұрын
The thing is I think you are paying for the fact that they are squeezing the market by having the highest quality of anybody in the market. They know that you can’t go anywhere else, so you basically have to deal with it, the good part for us is that we are still buying the best, even though we have to pay more.

If you don't give a single fuck about the radio pouches and you want something that has a hook backing built in, just get a beez combat systems side wing instead. Same concept, arguably better expandability depending on your needs, and they come in different lengths if you need more or less shit on it, and it can still be used as a chest rig for the people who know about all that (I sure fucking don't) Clearly the hook back isn't a must have to connect into a PC but personally speaking the more redundancy of connection points the better, especially if there's the possibility an incoming round blows out the front placard clip

@@lima3dynamics People like that just review anything that’s given to then and say dumbshit to get views. Personally the only thing I hate about Spiritus, Ferro and the rest is that stupid drop culture that took the industry by storm and is thankfully dying. Like, I get it he wants to run it over a plate carrier because that’s what I like to do but holy fuck his bit on that made me cringe. I can run my D3CRM and flatpack over my LBT and not have that kinda gaggle fuck mess he had. And cutting the back was a fuckin smooth brain move too because the Haley rig is smooth like that too and again on my standard LBT 6094 I can still run my D3 both on swift clips or attached to my flat pack just fine…

I understand that they didn’t necessarily develop this to be used as a placard, but man, I wish they would have included hook on the back side to integrate better with a PC. Throw in a loop cover when being used as a chest rig and you essentially have a damn near perfect “scalable” system. Go light with the micro fight mk5 and then slap that micro fight on to the thing 2 when you need more. Good video though, maybe give the axl advanced chest rig retention kit for better securement of the wings on a PC. Not as clean as the Haley or velocity systems but it’s adjustable.
