Well, we don't forget about it. And it doesn't change anything ;)

It's always good to know something new :) I admit I've never heard of "forgotten army". My point was just that it was a pity that the poles were not invited to the parade just because the West was scared of the reds.

Definitely. I'd agree with that. But at least now Polish and other non British pilots in the Battle of Britain are recognised and thanked. Even the British 1969 film The Battle of Britain, showed Polish pilots and mentioned the did very well when their was initial doubt about them. One of the most well known scenes in the film is when the Poles keep saying "repeat please!".

yeah, well, you proved my point, thank you :) "The Polish pilots were all gathered into one squadron, that's why that squadron had the highest kills" but all in all it doesn't matter whether we agree on it or not, still, the worst part is the way they were treated after the war. unarguably.

@higfny being the best involves statistics, and these squadron 303 had the best. You can't deny it.

@knollik - No, not the best ... they did their bit though.

The Polish pilots were all gathered into one squadron, that's why that squadron had the highest kills, because it had the highest concentration of experienced pilots. The experienced British pilots were all spread over many many different squadrons. And the highest scoring ace in the 'Polish' 303 squadron wasn't even Polish....but Czech.

well, guys, it's obvious that the polish pilots from the polish squadrons were the best, considering statistics, tactics, everything. they were given their chance and they fought it well. pity, that england forgot 'bout them after the war..

Well even some Brits were treated badly. Bomber Command for example. And my grandfather served in the British Army in Burma...the so called 'forgotten army'. Nobody cared about them or what they went through, comparatively speaking. Their exploits went by more or less unrecognised. But anyway many many people today now know and recognise the achievements of the non British pilots during the Battle of Britain. We've even had t.v programmes about them now.Its widely known that 20% were non Brits.

@knollik and the most unpredictable. Perhaps the most aggressive, but not the best, because that involves tactics as well. And anyways, I cant applaud unsporting dogfighting :p

Polish pilots the best in war.

Polish pilots did the best! They were few but shot down 10% of all german airplanes and lost only few of their fellows. In the air what countet was to stay alive and do the job without to loos the plane. That was what made them the best!!! Thet stayd alive and scored. But I must say thet were bad- they made vengence becouse of Poland. A matter of honor. After the first bombing of London the English started the same. But this war- agression, fanatism, anger. Sorry for bad english.
