As much as I like the Spitfire (XIV or other) I actually prefer seeing a variety of planes being flown. What's more, I actually prefer the less top tier planes because you can't rely on the advantages that your aircraft gives you and you need superior pilot skills to compensate, which leads to more interesting videos (and gameplay). Squashing bugs who can't really touch you, while satisfying, has less appeal than a win you really had to fight for. In case you're looking for planes to fly: I'd love to see some P-38 and some FW 190 (any). For an interesting challenge, I'd particularly like to see a FW 190 A3 encountering some Yak-1b's.

WWII fighter tactics ignorant, but when you talk about the plane's "energy state", is that simply a function of its speed? Or more to it than that? Just curious - I enjoy how you describe the tactics you are seeing in your opponent and implementing yourself. Part two if you'd grant me it - does IL-2 penalize a player for a death, versus bailing out?
@Mike_Romeo3 жыл бұрын
Energy = kinetic and potential energy (speed and altitude). You need the "energy" to manuver. Every manuver will cost you speed and or altitude and a high energy state means that you can do more things. (like going into the vertical or doing a barrel roll). If you are slow (low energy), you cant do much and you are a easy fixed target in the sky.
