Documentary about the restoration of a Mk 22 Spitfire in the late 70s and its first flight in 1980.
from the cover of the DVD:
"John McVicar Malloch
8th October 1920 - 26th March 1982
Many of the vintage aircraft seen at airshows today are limited to certain manoeuvres only. "Our Spitfire" was not only restored to flying condition, but it was the only Spitfire in the world that had no restrictions placed on it for aerobatic manoeuvres. It is a rare occasion when a unique aircraft can be restored to flying condition.
With the untimely loss of Captain Malloch and the Spitfire, it is a privilege to possess a permanent record of the culmination of the dream that came true - the magnificent obsession - the restoration and eventual flight of a beautiful, historic aircraft which was brought about through foresight and dedication.
It is also a tribute to the man himself - his character, his tenacity under adversity, his love for mankind and the respect that was given to him by all who knew him.
