Nothing sums up the 80s more than Thatcher, yuppies and the Spitting Image theme music! Put down your Filofax and listen to the C&T full version which also pays homage to Her Majesty and The Chicken Song.
Spitting Image is a British satirical TV puppet series that ran from 1984-1996. Produced by Central Television (in association with Spitting Image Productions) for ITV, this was one of the most-watched shows of the 1980s, pulling in 15 million viewers at its peak across the U.K.
Spitting Image satirised politics, entertainment, sport and British culture and launched the careers of many then-unknown British comedians (including Harry Enfield and Steve Coogan) through their vocal talents and impersonations.
This remix includes the original theme tune by Phil Pope. I’ve also included a nod to The Chicken Song (which reached number one in the UK singles chart in 1986, for three weeks). And, of course, it wouldn’t be “Her Majesty’s Mix” without the British national anthem, which I’ve added in the middle and as a counter-melody towards the end.
Listening to the music brought back a lot of fond memories of sitting down in front of the TV on a Sunday night and knowing that no politician, TV presenter, celebrity or pop star was safe!
No copyright infringement intended. This is a tribute remix born out of my love for the show and childhood memories. Copyright belongs to Central Television/Spitting Image Productions/ITV/Phil Pope.
