TWIB. that music when it's goes off/gathering crowds. has ALWAYS been EPIC to me. even after all these years...composer John Scott.

@@mysticakhenaton1701 I watched it Sundays at 1:pm, right before watching my Mets. TWIB was my favorite show growing up, early-to-mid 80s.

The good old days! I was 10 years old and this was on our TV every weekend! I loved this era in baseball! Thanks for this 1980 upload! The closing credits show that incredible throw by Dave Parker from right field to Gary Carter in the 1979 all star game! I remember this season like it was yesterday! I went to my first Angel game in 79 and got to see the greatest pitcher that ever lived in person! Nolan Ryan!

My first game was at Angel stadium in 1979 great memories

Kinda curious to how someone who appreciated that era would think that Ryan was the greatest pitcher ever. He was rarely the best pitcher in his own rotation.

Kevin Smith he was the best pitcher I’ve ever seen. He threw a no hitter in 4 different decades! There were some great pitchers in that era but Ryan was the best!
@kingcassius25864 жыл бұрын
@@PumaPete he never threw a no hitter in the '1960s so that's 3 decades. Also.. throwing the hardest and being the best are two different things. Seaver, Jenkins, Tanana, Perry, Gibson, Hunter, Carlton, Scott, and Palmer were all more effective than Ryan. Ryan was just a more exciting version of Phil Niekro. K's are just flashy outs and not necessarily the object of the pitcher's game.

@@PumaPete Ryan was far from the best!

This was my favorite show as a kid. It was the only time during the week I could watch baseball highlights.. in the world where many didn’t have access to ESPN.. and local TV covered only the local baseball franchise.. living where I did, I saw the Phillies.. but never an American League team.

Cincinnati’s three game sweep at Dodger Stadium ended up being costly for LA If they won even just ONE of those games, their final weekend sweep of Houston would have won the division instead of only forcing a 1 game playoff

when baseball was truly great and didn't have the gimmicks like they do now--i.e. interleague, all DH, and especially, ever-changing uniforms--including the Red Sox wearing yellow unis????

They never showed this in NYC until the end of the week, making it dated, but it was still fun, especially during a rain delay.
@rockvilleraven Жыл бұрын
It was always shown on WTBS when the Braves had a rain delay. The Fox version was more of magazine version instead of the highlights which made TWIB famous.
@jimwerther3 ай бұрын
They showed it Sunday at 1:pm, which I watched religiously just before watching the Mets' game at 1:30. I think the production wrapped the previous Wednesday, although it could have been Tuesday. What makes you think that the rest of the country saw it in a more timely fashion?

Thanks for recording these TWIBs. To let you know, last week, FS1 also aired a TWIB from July 1979 (ASG) and from late July 1980. They also aired one from 1977, but since most of us has the 1977 season on dvd, I won't ask for that. I WILL ask if you have the two mentioned eppies from last week, as I didn't know they aired in the first place until it was too late. If so, excellent. Thanks
