This is a significantly better attraction that Tiana’s. 2 reasons. Number 1, the music is just miles better. Is there some nostalgia, of course, but the music right after the drop at 10:44 simply cannot be touched in any capacity by Tiana’s. Second, there is fear generated in this ride. Kids may complain about being scared, but at the end of the day, they all want to feel a sense of accomplishment once they pass the “rite of passage” of splash mountain. The buildup to the drop where you genuinely feel fear is just not there at all in Tiana’s. Splash mountain is also just an iconic and better name for the ride. It’s so iconic that people would consistently call other flume rides around the world “splash mountain”. Heck, when I was typing that my phone autofilled “mountain” after splash. This was a mistake by Disney’s part. No one thought the ride was racist. Not a single person but Disney themselves.

However, due to how hot and humid summers get in Japan, parks around the country will often modify some of their rides to include additional water features to soak guests riding them, giving people a fun way to beat the oppressive heat. For this special summer version of the ride, there are additional water cannons at the bottom of the final drop that soak riders much more than normal.
