Wrong! You can use them to open doors, examine objects, dodge, point the flashlight and all these other things you don't know about because people turn them off first thing in the game. The holding still mechanic isn't even part of it since that's on even if you turn off motion controls. Imagine just turning your controller to read the back of a document you're examining or just pointing your flashlight where you want to look instead of having it slowly move all the way across the screen.

ELC AMX FTW You say this on a KZbin video where they use motion control in all of their videos. The reason people may get motion sickness from camera movement is if it's not smooth or natural, such as sudden movements and then stopping for a few seconds, then move again suddenly and suddenly stop for another few seconds. Or for motion control, unsteady hands and terrible aiming. I see more bad camera movement with stick than motion. A good player that can use stick well can do smooth camera panning, but there are also bad players using stick only and it hurts to watch. If they use motion, it would probably be less painful unless they are just flailing their hands all the time.

The best analogy I have for the gyro controls is that it's like a genre of music. You might not like it at first (unless you like trying new things), and even more so if someone is trying to force it on you. But if you take the time to listen and get used to it, you may just find it to be something you enjoy a lot. And if it's something you enjoy, then you might want to share it with everybody and encourage them to try it- or force them to and accidentally discourage them from ever trying it again.

I literally don't even understand what the problem is. For some people I think it's more preference than anything else. Now yes, let's get the obvious out of the way. Motion controls are better but, if sticks are better for you then use stick. My friends are primarily stick players and they just play just fine. If not great. I just think that people should just use what they like best and not what people tell them to use. Now yes, if one can, learn motion controls. They are wonderful. But just pick what you like. The reason why my friends play stick is because one gets motion sick and the other has been playing shooters all his life.

The problem I see isn't the preference, it is the closed-mindedness of gamers. Every "gamer" I have ever introduced to Splatoon insisted on turning off the Gyro in the hub town before even trying it in battle. They are so set in their ways that when something more efficient comes along, they would rather STICK with the status quo (pun intended). And then they get their butts kicked by low level players that are probably using gyro.

COCOTHECOCO That’s mostly because the ranked system in S2 is much easier than in S1. Whether the player prefers stick or motion controls is subjective. The fact that motion is objectively superior in every way and is practically a necessity to play the game at a high level is not.

I never played Splatoon before and I just ordered Splatoon 2, I had every intention to switch it to stick when I found out you start with motion, but I will try the motion first and I will use it for a while and if it still don't feel right, then I will use stick where I know I can feel more comfortable.

I'm trying to learn to use motion but I just have a hard time turning around. Do people use the right stick to move around and make precise aiming with motion or do people actually use the Y button instead and don't bother with the right stick at all. What I did in splatoon 1 is whenever I needed to turn around a corner and keep the camera that way, I would use stick controls to do so as I wouldn't have to keep the game pad turned for that long and be uncomfortable. But when I was in combat, needed to go up a wall, needed to be precise, or didn't have to make a big turn, I would use motion controls

this is an interesting video but it doesn't tell us much. Even with motion controls on I can't turn or snap to targets half as fast as you. How can you turn and hit targets so well? Is there a technique or how you hold the controller which helps? I heard from some people that they only use motion controls for up and down motions and slight adjustments and the right stick for turning; but with you turning so fast and tracking targets as fast as a mouse, are you aiming for targets completely with motion controls? what drills do you do to get better? You should do another video with tips and hints to get better at motion controls and maybe videoing your hands and controller whilst turning and tracking targets. Also you didn't say what your sensitivity settings were and what controller you are using.

Though i use motion controls you technically can move the camera quickly behind you by pressing the y button and the direction you want to face, but this option is also possible with motion controls.

For me it feels like the vertical gyro sensitivity is WAAAY higher than the horizontal , so I have to left/right aim with the stick still

For me personally, I've always hated vertical aiming with dual sticks. It always feels awkward too me. What I love about the motion aiming in Splatoon (and Botw) is that I get perfectly precise vertical aiming while I usually use the camera for most horizontal turning in combination with the motion. It works great.

Definitely agree, motion controls are way more fluid. My only problem is that I can never lock onto enemies like you do, whenever I do a quick turn to aim at someone my motion does a little wiggle in the end instead of that perfect lock-on that you do. I wonder if I should change my sensitivity, I use the same one as you.

That's okay i guess. But motion is definitely superior. Also i find it to actually be more intuitive. Many people tilt their controller unconsciously when aiming. Always good to have a choice though

I really want to use motion controls I do. But I physically just can't. First of all you can't invert the Y axis which is what I play on. Second I play on my TV not Handheld and when I've tried it with motion I feel like the pro controller gets locked at stupid angles, like I'm always looking at my feet. Lastly you still have to use the analog to turn left and right which defeats the purpose no? Someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong because I actually do want to use motion controls.

When I play with motion controls (which I use all the time) I use 5+ motion sensitivity and (R) sensitivity because when you shoot at someone, it's much more quicker and easier hitting. It hasn't got the same affect with stick controls.

I agree with this video, but i suggest watching squidkids video on this! Stick controls can actually turn 90 degrees faster than motion (or about the same) using y turns, if you hold the direction and press Y (to reset the camera) you will quickly snap 90 degrees, and you can repeat this to do 180 turns just as fast as motion. This is kinda pointless because its just making it unnecessarily harder for yourself since motion is just aim and shoot lol. But thought i would point it out since it wasn't mentioned and those who use sticks usually use this when they are at high level play.

Alex Garcia "Y positioning" gives you lag in the left stick once used just so you know. Its not a consistent method of aiming because if someone is 90 degrees to and they are a higher platform then you, Y positioning will not help as it will send the crosshair not in the right spot which will waste time in actual trying to aim at your target.

Julian Navas its not consistent due to the 1 second lag in your left stick and you still have you stick have to make inputs in right sticks to properly aim and track a target which will result in alot of missed shots. With motion you can make a consistent 180 with natural inputs and not miss any shots consistently.

First thanks for all of your content. Splatoon 2 is my most favorite game for the Switch. After watching this video I started playing with Motion Controls. I usually play a Tumbler or Roller. To become better now I play with a blaster, but this motion control is so frustrating. Aiming during combat for me is even harder and i play way worse than before. I played now for two weeks with motion control. Do you have an idea what I could try to make all this motion control work? When you play it all looks like it makes all sense, but when I try, it's like driving on the wrong side of the street.

Okay... basically it really depends on what controller you have and what you prefer to use. A big factor in this if you have a pro controller or not. I own a regular joycons and motion control is pretty hard on those. My friend has a a pro and uses motion and loves it. Another thing many people come from other consoles like PS4 to Xbox and are already pretty good with joy sticks. I have been playing console for a while and I'm pretty good with joysticks and I feel like they're more comfortable. So basically play to your preference and that is most comfortable. P.s. This was really a one sided discussion and I do agree for most people motion is really good and best way to go, but your whole argument was in the wrong place. Basically you were just saying hey steak is better than chicken. Look when I eat chicken it's not as good, but when I eat steak it is amazing.

When first got this game, in my first 2 weeks of playing i was using Stick Controls, i really wanted to play Competitively with Chargers and only got 0 or 1 kills with them in each match. but when i tried Motion Controls i really shined, like I'm sure most of the Splatoon community did, now i main the E-Litre 3K Scope and got to S+ with the Squiffer, Tentatek and .52 Gal

When I bough sploon1, I tried both sticks and motion. Motion felt so much better, I couldn't switch without feeling like I did something wrong. Managed to get to S rank a few times off motion, and motion in sploon2 feels just as great, if not better than the first time
