Splatoon 3: All King Salmonid Roars (Cohozuna, Horrorboros, Megalodontia)

I lot of people think Megalodontia (Joe's) roar sounds goofy, but i like it. It's unnerving.

Given some of the other things they've made (the lore of Kirby, Pokemon, and even Splatoon itself, the hidden ghosts in some Mario games, the dark stories seen in several games, to name a few things)...I think the moment they make a proper horror game, it'll be insane with what they pull off, perhaps with a contrast with it not being of a generic "creepy" look. After all...we've seen their non-horror stuff, including the creepy things.

Cohozuna sounds deep and low like a beast that was awakened from it's slumber, with only one goal in mind, to splat. Megalodontia sounds the most high pitched, seeing how it's the fastest but also most defenseless king salmon from the trio, horrorboros sounds like a punishment sent up from hell or from inside Pandora's box, its scream is the most distorted, it sounds the most natural and it sounds genuinely terrifying, and the scream itself is blood curdling, almost as if the mere existence of horrorboros was everything that nature was against, being the most technologically altered king from them all, with it's blank , glowing eyes you can tell that it's filled with rage,. Easily the king of all kings. But they all scream for one goal. *and that goal is To kill you*

I have always found Horrorborous to represent the cycle of life and death, therefore nature, to be the most fitting for all the Salmonids! It makes sense as Ouroborous represents this in alchemy. The 'horror' aspect is the realisation of the encroaching macabre of death to the coworkers (that being inklings or octolings who have never really dealt with something of the sort), and hence the 'horror' in Horrorborous!

My headcanon is that the king salmonids get powered up to the degree they are in salmon runs due to salmonids experimenting on them. Cohozuna has the chains around his neck, Horrorboros has cables around his body and the panel in his mouth cooks his booyah bomb. Megalodontia has a brace on his jaw, almost as if they needed to stop him from biting. It looks like they were tortured and experimented on to push their destructive capabilities and drive them to a bloodlusted state.

It is the Shin Godzilla to Cohozuna’s Godzilla: it sounds like it’s panicking, like it’s in pain. Like it’s scared of you. It spends most of the wave flying above you, out of reach, unlike the others who tend to mostly stay on the ground. It screams in terror. Megalodontia’s scream is the most unnerving to me, though: it’s almost… playful. Excited. Ecstatic. Where Horrorboros sounded like it was in pain, restrained and begging for release… Megalodontia gives me the exact opposite impression. There’s a word in Dutch, “voorpret,” that means something like “the joy that is experienced in anticipation of a pleasurable event.” That’s why it’s screaming. Cohozuna says “I am going to kill you.” Horrorboros says “Please don’t kill me.” Megalodontia says *_“HEEEEERE’S JOHNNY!!!”_* God I love this game.
