The developers have already gone on record stating that Mr. Grizz wasn’t trying to eliminate salmonids, only harvest eggs, and by extension, no one in the series is inherently evil since they all have their own ambitions just trying to survive. The only one I’d argue is “evil” is Tartar, but even then he’s an AI so it’s hard to say that he was because A, he has no conscience, and B, he was just doing what was in his program, even if he misinterpreted his orders. Back on the topic of Mr. Grizz, when people say he sends inklings and octolings to their doom, this series has weird rules for who can die because inklings “respawn”, in which it isn’t made clear in what circumstances do they fully kick the bucket, so it’s not like they actually perish from these jobs, albeit they are pretty dangerous though. Also, Mr. Grizz seemingly had a change of heart in the final cutscene, saying he was wrong for ever doing what he did, which doesn’t seem evil to me and shows clear remorse and wanting to change his ways. Also, you have to remember that he’s been in hibernation for eons, which could’ve drove anyone insane, especially when you pair that with his crash landing on earth, seeing everything he ever knew disappear. I hope they do more with Mr. Grizz in the future as he has survived the explosion in the credits where he seemingly went into hibernation again. I think he’s really misunderstood and a tragic antagonist that could be more fully fleshed out.

Good explanation. I see a lot of people say that he's evil and hated, but the only debateably bad thing he did was try to make the world primarily mammal again (but even that is understandable). I know that if I was conscious for 1,000 years (albeit sleeping), woke up expecting a new world for a new start, instead found the remains of the ship and my fellow passengers dead on the same planet we left, and discovered that the animals below me had taken over the world, I would 100% try and use a serum that makes things more human. And it wasn't even like Grizz was obsessed with finding that serum. He basically stumbled onto it when experimenting with the crystals. As for the "Grizzo puts its workers in danger" argument, that's probably the weakest one. The Inklings and Octolings literally "kill" each other for sport in Turf War and Anarchy, but it's okay because they don't truly die. It's the same with Grizzo except Grizz actually rewards his workers well. Plus I'd say that putting the workers in "danger" for a resource instead of just for sport entertainment is a better cause. And like you said, Grizz isn't trying to exterminate the Salmonids, he just wants the eggs. Not to mention the fact that the Salmonids actually glorify death in a way, so they might not even see dying to Grizzco workers as a bad thing. So in summary: Grizz isn't evil and almost everyone, if not everyone, would probably do the same thing if they were in his (metaphorical) shoes.

The thing is Mr. Grizz was trying to commit genocide onto the sea creatures. He didn't need to do much to survive he could of just joined society and he would of been welcomed with open arms. I mean the inklings don't have a problem with Judd and Lil Judd so why would they have a problem with Mr. Grizz? Even before his reveal as the ultimate foe, Grizz was a pretty nasty guy. In the Grizzo side game, he was more than willing to send a cluster of kids into dangerous reasons filled with salmon. He forced the inklings to wipeout the salmon population in the hopes of steeling their eggs. This is a terrible deed because not only is he endangering the inklings, but he steeling from and eliminating a population of creatures who have never shown any significant threat to him or Inkapolis. In fact, the salmons are likely fighting back just to defend their eggs. Grizz is simply unBEARable!

Mr. Grizz is not actually evil. He was launched into space on a rocket, and when he returned, everyone he knew and even was similar to him was dead. All he wants is his life back. He even acknowledged his mistakes in his final pieces of dialogue after beating him in the story mode.

I don’t really agree that Captain Cuttlefish should’ve been the best good character. He’s shown to not be that great of a person with Octarians and Octolings, despite having a whole adventure with Agent 8 aka an octoling. He also snooped into Marina’s personal information and then immediately gave it to Pearl. Of course, Pearl didn’t care, but the fact that he didn’t care about the outcome of what would happen does show that he doesn’t really have many good feelings for Octolings.

It’s really weird to see splatoon characters ranked on their morality. Especially in a game where the morality of everyone is supposed to be ambiguous and everything would change if the series was from a different pov And a good example is Octavio. He’s portrayed as the villain the whole time until splatoon 3 where he switched sides. And it’s also said that he stole the zapfish only to stop the octarians from all dying due to power outages and living underground but at the same time stealing the zapfish wasn’t really the best way to go about it but at the same time there’s really no way to reason with the inklings after what happened but at the same time he’s pretty rude but at the same time he seemed to have been forced into the situation of being a leader and is bad at it and if he was in a better situation he probably wouldn’t of been shown as the villain but at the same time that means he’s redeemable but not sympathetic because he’s a jerk. Yeah his whole character is basically a tennis game of morality

I just want to point out that Mr. Grizz did not want to turn the world's population into his minions. There's literally nothing pointing towards him wanting minions. He wanted to unleash the ooze because he saw marine animals controlling Earth instead of mammals as unnatural, which makes sense seeing as how he is ultimately from an Earth similar to the one we live in. It wasn't about power, he had no lust for power. He just wanted to make the world go back to how it was, not to mention that he felt lonely as the only bear/mammal left on the planet (I know the Judds are also mammals, but it seems like he never found them since the logs explain how he searched the world for others after the crash and found no one).

I think Callie and Marie do other things while helping guide through levels on your own. I think Marie looks at graphs texts and computers to manage the locations and such. And idk since Callie is around the area where you were when you finish levels she’s rather their for emotional support or adventure to send data for Marie to process
