I will say, this game actually has a really unique and fairly original idea compared to a vast majority of the other games that come out these days. It's a fun little combination of sci-fi and fantasy with a gameplay/combat system you don't see quite as often either, and the art style is quite excellent too. I was pleasantly surprised to see this one and hope that it does well! :)

After watching the video I got to say this one looks extremely creative. The art is very good and I felt myself just excited to see what the next panel would look like. Very well realized. The combat also looked interesting and I have to wonder if all my long hours playing starsecetor might be pushing me to want to try this. At any rate, game looks great.

I never liked the randomness of fuel in FTL-like map systems. It's just going too far with the randomness. You just hope that you'll find enough when you have enough resource. I always thought if the game designer wants to make me lose at random, then flip a coin and kill me on turn 1. I'll take those lumps. I'll even smile. Don't make me burn time on a great run that dies due to something I can do pretty much nothing about. A few ways out of it here: - Have a loyal subject find you as you are floating and they tug you to the nearest station. - Have a merchant find you and they sell you fuel at inflated rate, or they will trade for an item at low rate. - Have a merchant find you and they will give you fuel if you grant 'a favor'.. it could be dropping off something they can't (you can certainly go past customs checks), or they can force a certain decision in an event later (of course bad), or maybe they force you to order one of your coterie to their service. - Have bandits find you and you of course have to fight them. Do so with a 'running on fumes' debuff where you have 80% engine power and occasionally your ship stutters and even stalls. - You can cause almost any other location event also as you float with minimal control. Better yet, you can add a way to make it a choice. What if money were just concentrated fuel? Then you could cook cash. It makes more sense than the ship taking damage, but moving at 0 fuel. If your car runs out of gas and you push it, it doesn't take damage as it rolls. Maybe modify your map generation to guarantee at least one fuel depot per N jump range. In that case, I'd want to first pick the sector size, then set number of fuel nodes, then connect them, add random branching along those paths and then connect branches to make cycles for various paths. A single pass to add some non-initial-node arcs should fix you up fine. Don't do fuel just because it is a trope. Make it part of the world. Don't punish players with game over for something they have no ability to anticipate or react to. If the mechanic can be replaced with a game over screen, make sure it was the player's fault. If it can end the run, then the run should be designed around it - because it now is the most important thing, regardless of your intent or expectation.

A good one I think is to mine nearby asteroids into fuel, it would take extra time/imcrease the alertness level and you could trigger other events similar to what you mentioned. Also something related to meta progression, Maybe a 1:X free travel on visited nodes, so you could roam for shops and events with alertness being the main price for it, being a fixed amount removes rng dependency and it makes sense you could travel more efficiently in known areas

I finished ftl on all difficulties and I never once ran out of fuel. If you were running out of fuel you were doing something wrong.

Anybody know how to play this game in a smaller window? The video settings offer windowed mode, but there does not seem to be a way to resize the window.

Try setting the video mode to windowed and then restart the game. That way you should have a resizable window.
