The saddest part of it all was..when you played through the game you can see how much love the developers had for this franchise and wished to have done more with it. such a sad state of affairs that it went through such a development Hell. Glad I still have my PS3 copy..I play it whenever I've got nostalgia, still one of my top favorite games of all time.

Is it worth playing through today? It looks quite nice and I love the aesthetic, but why were there reviews so low?
@vellinghem21876 жыл бұрын
@@binkusbonkus Yes! It's very much worth playing through today. The games fun, the music's Brutal, the voice acting and one liners are cool and funny, the story and lore is interesting..the game holds up (most of the time just because I love it doesn't mean I'll ignore the faults) but overall it's worth playing..I have a blast playing ever single time and I'll always keep playing for as long as ps3's are available to the world. There are a number of reasons why it had a low score..some are legit reasons some are minor that I can ignore. For example a few of the legit reason is if you die or load a game your gonna wait probably a solid minute for it to start, another would be an extremely cut and rushed ending..as if it were finished only half way and leaves a major cliffhanger which always made me hope for a sequal. But minor reasons like for example like weird camera angles to me personally I don't even mind it..I mean you can move the camera in whatever direction you want most of the time for crying out loud..what more do people want? That's just me...you can read more on wiki or the video Matt posted but all in all in my personal opinion..the games a fun Blood gushed Metal enduced guilty pleasure and I'm never gonna stop playing it...it's in my top five for a reason because it's Good old fun...oh and as a bonus....in the Extras menu they have the original 3 Arcade Splatterhouse's installed just for giggles so good on that development team! 👍 Hope this long unneeded explanation answers your questions.

@@binkusbonkus it's fun, in my opinion. Great voice acting, and lots of badass moves to be have. The low reviews were probably because I think a lot of devs didn't care for the game and didn't like beat'em ups. I say to look at the happy game nerd review for a good review of the game.

This whole thing is a really great example of how one manager can ruin things for a lot of people. I'm not opposed to weird Kronenberg artsy stuff, or strange body horror things, but ya gotta keep the client happy in matters of taste. It was important to keep the people sending the checks happy--especially if your only only other iron in the fire was some seedy guys like Brash. You save the passion projects for after you have enough money to feed people--which Namco Bandai could've easily given.

@@Dissenter It honestly works perfectly in my opinion, since the tough talking voice is The Mask, and not ACTUALLY Rick. You have the voice of a Murderous Psychopath warping the body of a genuinely noble person who has to come to grips of what that entity is turning him into. Funny how most of these Wha Happuns involve the publisher screwing over the developers by giving them impossible goals and/or forcing them to redo everything to follow the current trend, but here it's the other way around where the publisher told them to do one thing and the devs just blew them off and did something else. While I prefer the classic Jason Voorhees look, I definitely enjoy this look. However the one place I feel this game fell short was the constant humor in the game. In moderation I feel this could work, especially because of how goofy the older games kind of seem in retrospect, but I would have definitely enjoyed a bit more of a serious game with just a hint of humor. It's quite a fun action horror game with some neat bosses, beautifully grotesque levels and stages, and interesting story, and some great character interaction between a smart ass and a dweeb as they fumble across space and time to save a girl from the end of the world. It's a great game to play on Halloween, along with Bloodborne, Resident Evil 1 and 4, Nightmare Creatures, Medievil, and Dead Space. That, and it comes with the original three games, making it the most complete collection of the series in one sitting. Even if you didn't like the base game, you can then just play Splatterhouse 1, 2, and 3 in their original splendor in the extra's menu after finishing your first runthrough. A nice little bonus for everyone, really.

My dad used to play this in front of me as a kid. I loved the game so much but I couldn't remember what it was called. Then I remembered and my dad got it for me on the PS3 for my birthday when I was turning 11. I'm now 19 and i still have the game along with the ps3. I play it at least once a year. Its interesting to go deeper into why people don't really like the game. I also can't believe how rare it is now. There's people selling it for as much as 80 bucks.

I may be one of the few people that actually enjoyed this game when it was released on the PS3/X360. Shame we'll never see a sequel to this game due to it selling poorly.

You did forget to mention 1 other movie, and that was Halloween 4: the return of Michael Myers, which became a box office hit.

I've been watching Helloween4545's lp of this game, and rough as it is, it still really looks fun. Pity there's no sign of a sequel.

Well I'm gonna pick this game up now. It looks awesome. By no means a *good* game, but a playable one and, most importantly, a fun one. Not to mention that aesthetic is a total horror fan delight

It helps that the story and dialogue are really good too.

Man, I've still got this game. I never finished it, I lost a few times at the end because I failed the defense mission, put it down and told myself I'd try again later, and...never did. I thought it was fun in a pretty bland way, obviously could've been done better, but for what it turned out to be I didn't mind it. Also Jim Cummings is rad as hell when they're not using the same voice clip every thirty seconds.

They could remaster the reboot and put in the missing content. Along with the first 3 games as unlockables, why not add wanpakku graffiti as a new bonus. Hopefully, if the game sells, there'll be a sequel to tie in what happened after the possession of Jennifer. And personally I'd prefer as another change for the Jennifer tranformation portrait in 3 be changed back to how it looked like it in the original genesis version.

Nothing but respect to Jim I literally grew up on Saturday morning cartoons but having to hear a fowl mouthed Darkwing duck while struggling with this regrettable purchase just made it worse.

The weird alternative designes could of worked, if they kept it to one level, as a hellraiser shout out (that counts as a slasher film right?)

Man I got so excited at the end with the post of the house, but it hit me so hard when it was just some stupid SAO expansion. I feel like Splatterhouse deserves some sort of soft reboot again for next generation consoles.

I wish this was on the backward compatible program on the series X/S (60fps would be the icing on the cake), I would love to have a way to get a digital copy of the game. I have the ps3 physical copy, but doing the setup is annoying, I would rather have a digital copy, I would gladly purchase both ps4/5 and Series S/X.

I’ve been watching some of this videos and the thing that always seems to be on this fails is either one shit company making bad decisions or one person with an ego so inflated that they just “play” on projects because he liked to do what they wanted instead of what was asked or fans wanted, and that is an instant fail from the very beginning.

Alas, we probably won't get to see the continuation of this game's continuity. A real shame, since the story ended on a cliffhanger. Given it's been 9 years now, any new Splatterhouse game is bound to be another reboot. At least we'll have Jim Cummings. For this game, I mean. Darkwing Duck is unlikely to return for subsequent outings, regardless of reboot.

I know every team needs an advisor or creative manager but hearing of this kind of management and how much power they have to over take these projects is so concerning and sucks that the only solution would be for a rep to babysit the whole time.

Namco: Alright, all we need you to do is to just make a simple but fun brawler with a gritty artstyle and lots of blood. Got it? Bottle Rocket: Yes, a Rise of the Kasai clone with HR Geiger inspired monsters.

What's funny is Bandai Namco is one of those publishers that is pretty chill with you trying new stuff so long as you also do what they asked you to do and they didnt actually ask for much with this one
