Hey there! Thank you so much for checking out this Splendor playthrough as Dale and I chat about tips and strategies but also discuss Endless Winter: Paleoamericans, Splendor Duel, Lost Cities, Splendor: Marvel, and many other games! As you may know, Splendor is my most-played game of all time by far so it was fun to play against Dale as he preps for the Splendor tournament this coming Wednesday at the World Series of Board Gaming for a shot at the $25,000 grand prize! Some additional Splendor strategy tips I forgot in the moment: Apparently 24 turns is the ideal point to end the game. The iPad/Android app will display the number of turns, so you can use that to train somewhat against the AI (even though they don't play optimally). The diversified color strategy to get nobles usually hits 15 points in the 25-27 turn range, which is why it shouldn't be the focus of your strategy. It's even possible to end the game on turn 22 or 23. I've only hit 22 once, playing basically perfectly vs AI that didn't try to block me. Also note that the cards with the best points-to-gem-count ratio are the ones that use mostly or all one color. For example, the 3pt cards in row 2 that cost 6 of the same color. For this reason, it's usually best to try to collect a lot of one color, based on which cards are available. And since you'll have to take other gems, try to use them on cards of the color you're collecting. For comparison, the row-2 cards that cost 3,3,2 gems (8 total) are worth 1pt, while the 7 cost single-color gem cards in row 3 are worth 4pts. Experienced players will often reserve these 4-5pt cards at the start of the game, and aim to finish with them. The cards with the best balance of points vs attainability are the 2pt cards in row 2 which cost 4,2,1 gems. If any are available at the start of the game, it's good to collect their primary color, and take as your 2nd-3rd card. Hope that helps! :) gg wp, Dave!
