It's also known as procedural animation, where the character rig reacts not only to inputs but also to the collisions programmed into the environment. It was around this time, as we started tripping out of Gen 6 and into Gen 7, that characters started to feel much more grounded in their worlds, pushing our immersion to new heights. It's nice to see someone appreciate this, as I feel it was lost on most gamers at the time.

The beauty of the Splinter Cell games, but this one especially, was there were so many different ways to get through a level. I just downloaded the backwards compatible version for Xbox One after not playing this since the original Xbox and after watching this video I’ve seen things I never knew existed. I’ve gotten 100% on every level using this guide with the exception of the Bath House mission....still can only get to 93%. But I’ll keep playing and trying as long as I can. If you actually re-watch Pandorra Tomorrow, you'll see at least 3-4 major hooks that are simply mentioned in passing that directly set this game up, such as Douglas Shetland's company being involved in some shady shit, the rise of the ISDF, the research project with the Masse Kernels, etc. They actually did it rather expertly, where if they hadn't made another game, you'd have never known, but they used those hooks to create Chaos Theory's plot spine.

The graphics hold up superbly. They are drab by today’s standards, but so technically sound that they will always hold up. The gameplay and the environment in which you navigate, you start to learn to do so more and more fluidly. It’s challenging, tense, and rewarding. It gets really fun later in the game when you feel like a ghost and anyone that ends up isolated is done for. Sam is like a spider taking his victims into his web in the dark corner. I love how light sensitive the game makes you. After 4-5 levels, you’re just instinctually taking out lights.

One thing I found interesting with this game is that through the ambient and direct dialogue with enemy NPCs it seems like they tried to humanize the enemies and sympathize with them which made it really hard for me to just murder them. Like a lot of the enemies you face think the force they're serving is actually righteous, or like with one of the guerillas, he explains his experience as a boy and when the navy seals murdered his family. It was interesting way to characterize enemies for sure. Or like how displace is being deceived by their owner Shetland and the Mercs aren't necessarily evil

I played the hell out of this game back in the day, and I always just choked the bad guys out after I'd grabbed them, unless the mission required you to kill. The first Splinter Cell and Chaos Theory, really had the best stories, atmosphere, and character interaction. I finally got around to playing/finishing Conviction; and it brought some things that were good like less menu selection when approaching a door, Mark and Execution feature, and alternate ways to navigate the environment. However that being said it lacked other immersion features that sat the series apart from other spy games like being able to hack doors/computers, pick locks, use trash as a distraction, and hide bodies to prevent alerting guards. Ubisoft should go back to the basics of the older Splinter Cell games. Keep the alternative ways to navigate the environment, fine tune the equipment usage like adding a freaking arc; crosshair when throwing objects/grenades, and finally an equipment screen to prepare you for a mission with no re-supplies for YOUR gear but the enemies.

It’s 2007 at the time and I remember from the first watch dogs when Raymond Kenny had a similar blackout occur from Blume in 2003. Basically the same event happened 4 years after the Blume blackout. I do like how Ubisoft is very detailed with their crossovers/Easter eggs hinting at the other games. Honestly that’s probably why I’m hooked on there games.

MGS is very heavy on the story and messages it has. Even though I do think SC is political and does have messages, MGS takes it further than that. It honestly depends on what you feel like playing/what experience you want. Personally I have become a fan of both, but they’re different experiences. Sometimes they don’t even feel comparable, since they take approaches to things differently. But I do have to agree that SC perfected stealth gameplay and mechanics. Especially CT. This game is the pinnacle of what a good stealth game is. MGS might’ve started it, but SC took it a step further.

I played the PS2 version of the game. I remember a lot of loading screens within sections in the level and in the bank level there was like a shed on the right side of the bank before climbing up to the ceiling. The hacking mini game was a lot more difficult than the PS3 version but still very much enjoyable. Best entry I've ever played

I wish Tom Clancy made a book series on this instead of the other writers (although they were still good). When they made the games, Clancy mentioned that the green lights and tri-googles were unrealistic, so he didn't fully endorse it, just added his name on title. They should've gone with the Without Remorse as wriiten in his 1993 book of the John Clark series before the Rainbow Six creation.

I love that you lowered the brightness to make the shadows realistically dark forcing you to use night vision. Not many people do that and I wish it was dark like that by default, especially for blacklist.

I’m new to the series thanks to Ghost Recon Wildlands. All I can say is that there’s a steep learning curve, it’s very realistic and even on normal difficulty it’s still quite hard.

Fisher could teach new Splinter Cell agents in training not to get themselves kidnapped, shot, torchered, stabbed, hung, blown up, noticed by enemies, killed, setting off alarms, basically doing anything stupid that interfers with a mission and ya just wanna slap them in the head.

This game was probably the best stealth action game of all time. I have played all metal gear all Splinter Cell except Blacklist. I own it just never got around to it, but this game was a masterpiece. You could literally beat the entire game without knocking out or killing any guards. It’s like Sam Fisher was a ghost, he just did his spy job and walked off like he wasn’t even there. I think maybe one mission towards the end you might have had to at least use a knock out gas weapon from the gun, but it’s been years since I played this, might even be able to finish without using it. But you could also kill, I recall playing it and some guard spotted me, I just killed him by slitting his throat, it was brutal and bad ass, but it’s cool to try and do a mission without being spotted and raising alarms, which made the maps even more difficult. It’s a work of genius and they should have a remake for the modern consoles.
@Shamoneee3 жыл бұрын
Big mistake for not playing blacklist tbh. Blacklist and Chaos Theory are on par. Blacklist is much more fluid and responsible. You can still play like a ghost in blacklist
@rexrocker12683 жыл бұрын
@@Shamoneee yeah I saw people sneak through levels on KZbin. Not even killing or knocking out unless the mission required it. I didn’t want to watch because I had not played it, I own a copy still wrapped in the cellophane. But I don’t game much anymore so I wanted to see what it was all about. I also liked Conviction a whole lot, it was badass too. Sam Fisher was really pissed off! It was like a Rambo simulator. I like all the Splinter Cell games. They need to bring it back, even pass the torch to another character.
