Scary indeed, chilled me to the bone. I know this is an old thread/interview, but I watched the movie again today, and I'm blown away by McAvoys talent. The dance scene with Hedwig was brilliant, really gets under my skin. Also love the way Hedwig ends his sentences with "Etc"...just a little kid trying to be BIG. One thing I want to mention is how much I disagree with one of the critics who said the childhood flashbacks of the protagonist "Casey" made him uncomfortable. He said her childhood abuse was not relevant to the story and I couldn't disagree more. It was her childhood abuse that made her a survivor. As uncomfortable as it may have been for this critic to acknowledge, victims of childhood trauma ARE special in some ways, and the Beast knew it too. If her trauma saves her life or redeems her in any way, that's a WIN for any victim. VERY relevant to the storyline. Brilliant MNS. Brilliant ending.
