It's like they purposefully placed a boring half-asleep reviewer against such an amazing, unique action-packed racing game. Almost 5 years later this game is still so fuckin fun to play and it frustrates me we'll never see a sequel.

I feel you. The reason the sequel was cancelled was because Black Rock Studies had it's staff reduced by Disney and the game didn't fit the new business model and the game got cancelled. Still really pissed about that, they left the game on such a big cliffhanger and we are still waiting to see what happens next.

@@richardjapa4820 It's just because Split/Second, regardless of critical acclaim, was seen as a commercial failure for Disney Interactive Studios. And they lost a lot of money between when the game was released and I believe around 2012, so a lot of financial struggles during that time too. Split/Second only sold 86,000 units within the first 12 days of release, and of course, sales for the game did not do as well as Disney hoped. So they reduced the staff at BlackRock Studios, and eventually, they shut them down, and we'll never see Split/Second 2 unfortunately :(

This game is the fucking BOMB. I havent had so much fun playing a racing game since NFS Most Wanted on PS2. It would be wonderful if this could get next gen sequel with 60fps,a few extra modes, lightened up on the rubberbanding and maybe a few tweaks like for example- if youre in 1st place theres really nothing you can do to trigger things, you were kinda out there like a sitting duck.

Yeah, I found that to be an issue when I took first. Then again, you don't really need to if you're in first. Sure you can drift corners to get the meter up, but it tended to not be enough. A simple fix like a small portion of meter for every few seconds you spend in first.

I love the idea of this game and have had it downloaded on my Xbox 360 from when it was on sale a few years ago. I've been playing through it the last few days (I'm up to Episode 10 of the season). Some things I love about the game are the tracks and how they can be destroyed. Some things I don't like about the game are the cars.. .many of them seem so underpowered. I've been using the DLC vehicle that looks like an SUV for most of the game and it was great because it has a high top speed rating as well as strength with the only low thing is the Drift. I then switched to another car that has slightly lower speed but has full drift and nearly everything else too. The AI can definitely be annoying (make one mistake near the end and you're pretty much screwed) and I really just am not good at the levels against the helicopters! Overall the game is a blast to play, would highly recommend. I will have a video up regarding this game soon! I love arcade-style racing games and this really is one of the best! :)

I'd say this is a fair review. Yes, the AI is bonkers and yes the tracks can turn you in the opposite direction sometimes, but you get to blow up the competition! Think about that and tell me that's not totally bad***! Not to mention the sound is incredible and each car has their own distinct engine noise! Now that's dedication!

Ideas to sequel: 1. A customization feature from paints,vinyls,spoilers etc but no performance(so that competition online will be a bit more even and fair) 2. Make the explosions that change the track be a little bit less predictable 3. Make the pacing of the game faster and some more special effects(like every near miss from a explosion the screen temporarily turns black & white 4. Create new online events,like a demo derby or like a "capture the bomb," sort of event.

IMO this game has the best drifting in any racing game hands down. That's all I ever do in racing games lol. And when your racing online in first place, someone triggers a level 3 power play and you drift right through it...Man theres no better feeling than that while playing a video game lol.

Tried the demo. Got 1st place on my 1st race. It's not too difficult, but it's not too realistic either. But what I do love about this game is the INCREDIBLE excitement and pulse pounding adventure of this title. It's just plain FUN to play, the visuals are spectacular (very movie like), and you take great joy in setting stuff off. My only problem? When you or your competitors are destroyed, you all respawn in 8th place and continue racing. Destroy for good please! That will raise stakes.

@Klickker I do agree the fact the rivals are hard but if you try a quick race mode and set the difficulty to hard you can reach first spot. If the tracks are too confusing, try drifting your way across every turn. See if that helps

I have played this game almost everyday for 6 months straight. The music has not become boring to me, it kicks ass. If you are good at this game the AI will not pass you if you wreck one time. Depending on the level you can wreck multiple times... 2-5 times or more and still win. I am not a racing game fan. The last racer I played was Gran Turismo 2. I gotta tell you though this is my favorite game right now. It's awesome! Give it a try. If you like racing games you should enjoy it.

Confusing tracks and harsh ai give the game a challenge. It'd seem to easy without them. Idont get the confusing tracks part, especially the more you play the game and figure out which spots are course changers. They seem easy to pick up after awhile. I'd give this game a 9 flat. Very fun and awesome. :D
