That is actually a pretty nice attic for a low pitch roof. I have been in some that you have to belly crawl and lay in front of. Low pitch attics are hot because you are right against the roof. Not uncommon to find larger size air handlers than the outdoor unit in the south especially goodman, helps meet seer rating and dehumidification. Just ask your local goodman rep.

I'm so not used to seeing the mismatched tonnage. My tech school up north taught me to only ever undersize the evap coil by like a half ton for better dehumidification. I've been in worse attics down here but none at this time of day.

@@AB_HVAC @myHVAClife is right. For some reason they do that a lot with Goodman. Sometimes it’s like that from the factory, you’ll call and ask for a 2 ton system and you’ll get a 2 ton outdoor with a 3 ton evaporator.

@@AB_HVAC 😂 always the neighbors. It’s a huge problem. bro they watch y’all put em in and call the boys the min y’all drive off. It happened a few times to me on the east side. The mgt co. I was working with started having me take the tanks, furnace and ac units to storage, and put em back the day ppl move in. And they have like 3 sitters that are homeless and move em around to nicer vacant properties. They clean and keep up the house too while it’s waiting for a tenant.

In my experience, leak sealers can work OK on slow leaks (makes them slower) but if refrigerant is gone, you'll get a callback. Oversized evaporators can work OK, but may want to reduce blower speed. Attic work this time of year earns a surcharge...

Good find on the wire. I would cut the KW in half if the wire size was not sufficient. Then tell the customer to get an electrician out there to change the wire. Most of them were reminded when it got cool out and the house was not heating properly. Disconnect did its job, sort of. To small wire = fire. 10KW at 240v and 8KW at 208v I think is how it works, however, wire a #6, always for anything with 10KW, breaker and fuse size very important as well. I know the heat in attics, S FL was a roaster up in there. The AC was a mix. Carrier AHU with a Goodman Condenser. Zombie AC. If in doubt on the size of the Evap coil, pop the panel and see if there is a manuf tag on it. Usually its there. Nice vid. Enjoyed.

#8 isn’t big enough for 10 kw heat strips and the blower…needs at least a #6 or unhook half of the strips which you can’t do cause that’s the only source of heat…your only option is to replace the wire with a #6 then run it off of a 50 amp breaker…still has a leak somewhere…that’s the best design for a rental property cause it’s the most reliable but personally I would opt for the inverter heat pump…runs a considerably less amp draw for the same load….

Can't pull a vacuum on a unit with a leak, will suck in humidity through the hole. Can't add sealant because it will react to that moisture and create restriction. Need to fix the leak and with a goodman it is probably the evap coil.

410A is garbage wish the EPA just stuck with R-22 now we got this new higher pressure trash R-32 and R-454B they just keep screwing us over, mildly flammable gas that runs at same pressure as 410A. Wild stuff man! Let’s replace a TRUE refrigerant with something that runs at double the pressure and leaks a lot faster than 22. Idk what they’re thinking? Lemme know what y’all think?

per the install instruction, minimum wire size for single feed is 6AWG. minimum 60 amp breaker/fuse. max wire length 80'. leak seal should be a last resort and ALWAYS mark the unit, in multiple places, that you put that crap in. I, for one, will not connect to a unit that has that crap in it!!! I will buy a set of gauges and hoses that is charged to the customer if I run across a unit with leak seal, UV dye or similar product.
