Absolutely criminal the first Splitgate didn't get more popular. It was one of the most fun FPS experiences I've ever had. It captured the essence of what used to make FPS games great and added an extra dimension with the portals. Endless fun. Looking forward to this new installment. Hope it matches the first but gets the recognition it deserves.

It just didn’t have anything interesting to keep anybody hooked. I played it a lot, but the novelty of the portals wears off once you realize none of the maps utilize them well at all and besides that there’s just the decent gunplay and that’s about it

It’s not exactly a hero shooter, or at least not in name. According to the devs, there’s a set of 3 factions you can choose from, and each one will give a different set of abilities. Those factions offer different play styles and load outs, but you’re still free and able to scavenge your own weapons at will

I loved Splitgate at launch, but had constant connection problems so I stopped playing. Then came back after a few years and was impressed with how much it had grown, but it was difficult to find games as the player count was lowering. I hope this isn't plagued with connectivity issues and manages to maintain player count high. I'm excited to try it out again!

Looks like we have classes or team roles? Could be very interesting. Portals not being restricted to just walls looks very exciting but it could be super hard to balance and map-build around - I imagine they know what they are doing though. I personally hope the combat doesn't stray too far from that Halo-style, I don't want another generic shooter, I want what we already had just with continued dev support. Overall, very excited. When compared to the first game, this seems to be set in a completely different universe. What I mean is that the first game had a completely different feeling to it. Based on what the maps and backgrounds looked like, as well as the wide veriaty of skins and playable characters, the world of the first felt like they were once a highly advanced society that used their portal tech to explore the universe. But then some major disaster caused the portals to bring multiple worlds together into one giant mess. This game doesn't give that feel at all, it feels more like a genuine sports game then the first one. And while I do know the first game was also technically a sports contests, my point is this game feels even more like a actually sport.

@WarpSonic Yeah, well said, but Splitgate was built on portals, so in a trailer, you would show portal play, at the very least, to show how it acts in Unreal 5. The only portal in the trailer we see actively being placed is with the help of Bolt's gadget thingy. It's like showing a snippet of fortnite 2 and not showing the building. It shows the creative focus of the team and how it now looks like the million other hero shooters with portals sprinkled in and not portal mechanics but with guns. Rogue Company, Warframe, Titanfall all tired this already. Who needs portals when you can see through walls and fly? Not to say it does not shape up to be a good game, I am certainly playing the heck out of it when it launches but, like I said "It looks like portals are taking a backseat in this game". I hope I'm wrong, and may you be right. This is just my 2 cents

I don’t know how I feel about the new abilities and class system they’re adding into Splitgate 2. I’m getting pretty sick of getting scanned through walls by legal Wall hacks just because some other players hits a button. I don’t like these scan abilities it just feels like you’re being punished for just being near them. Hopefully the abilities won’t be too annoying and they’ll be balanced.
