the splitgate devs are actually working on a new game right now. they made enough money off of splitgate to become a triple A studio. so im really excited to see what they make.

I heard about that! While excited, I’m cautious because I wish they didn’t abandon Splitgate after the massive hype died.

@@Zanezyunderstandable but have some faith, I played it for the first time yesterday night, I was having so much fun, I like Halo but I didn’t play it a lot, it played and moved like Halo but the interactions with the portals and kinda creating angles in a sense, I found it very fun and fast, but not also brain dead

I miss playing shottys and snipers. Also the railgun game mode was extremely fun as well. I miss getting crazy shots and making people think im cheating

In my opinion the biggest downfall of the game was the cosmetics. No matter what they did the cosmetics could never improve very rare for something good to come from splitgate

I definitely feel that. I also think another part was it seemed too little too late. They added a bunch of game modes and stuff when the hype was dying down, but also I feel with the time period when Splitgate was going off it was right in the middle of Warzone & Apex as well. I enjoyed Splitgate for a bit, the play cycle got repetitive and not much was added outside of cosmetics, just because its a free game doesn't mean it'll take off or stay long I think the game came out at an alright moment but failed to keep the players interested with more meaningful content. My main issues with the game was the portal system for the main thing to make it different from other fps it felt like an after thought, the game did get boring fast and felt like at times when launching the game I questioned why not just play another game lol. Sad to see any game with potential go under but its also a f2p curse seeing as the lively hood is still transactions and during a time where people hyper fixate on it and where the game presents itself at first with many cosmetic ads it gets unwarranted hate for it and ill admit I was that way when playing it since I just wanted more interesting content. Great vid as always I forget about this game but this made me revisit me initial thoughts on it and swayed it to a better light and appreciate it now even if I didn't back in the day, much love and keep it up

Always appreciate you leaving such thoughtful and detailed comments friend. Free to play games definitely have that lingering curse around em where at times they most definitely can fizzle out rather quickly if not capitalized on enough. Splitgate I hope the devs learned from the mistakes and the good they had with the game. I know with their second game I hope it’s more thought out and planned for peaks and valleys when it comes to the popularity of the game instead of what they did with Splitgate. The portals can be great but also can’t be as you said when it gets repetitive or they just become and afterthought. So here’s hoping that when they release their new game it’s a banger that stays with us for some time. Can’t wait to see you in the next one ❤️

The servers are up still so if you have the time in between being a sniping Chad and a normal Chad I’d check it out. It’s definitely worth it and they still have a decent amount of players!

I played this around 2021 or 2022 and instantly got bored, it was just too easy. I don't know if it was SBMM or I had just figured it out quicker than the other players in my lobby, but setting up 1 portal in a safe area and then being able to instantly shoot down your second was too overpowered. Literally ANY time a firefight wasn't in my favor I'd simply just disappear, with no chance of them following me as you're able to shoot that second portal back down instantly once you're through, closing up the gap. Even if someone else was in melee distance of you, you could still escape.

It’s actually funny you bring up the portal stuff. I played a few games with players who had nuts portal skills. I can see where you’re coming from, I actually think lack of SBMM is what made me actually have fun with it. Seeing people with multiple skill ranges is what kept me interested. But I do see where you’re coming from because the portals, when used by someone who gets the hang of them quicker than others can be extremely insane on the players who don’t know what’s going on. Eventually they added zero portal game modes that you can 100% tell they probably only did it due to people complaining about the portals / skill gap of the portals.
