Splitter Stroke Shortening Solution…!! 005

In this video, I share how a few stainless steel bolts, paracord, a snap swivel and carabiner clip can shorten the stroke on a Huskee 22 Ton by 8” and 3.5 seconds!!

I think so too! I ran some pin oak after the modification to try it out, and OMG what a difference. Don’t have to keep reaching for the damn handle! It stops by itself!

I did a "similar" stroke shortening on the day after I got myself a 2nd hand box store splitter. My mod was virtually tool less and the stroke can be adjusted by moving the hose clamp.

You can "sorta" see it in action on kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKDEhGqjYtJ6gNk . The detent on my splitter kicks off at random and my bodgy mod adds extra weight that makes it more likely to kick out. I'll make the mod betterer and more reliable at some stage. It has got a total of about 5 minutes invested in it so far with a couple of length adjustments and tweaks.

Absolutely Will! Anything to speed up production, right? I busted up pin oak yesterday and oh what a difference over here! I felt like I was setting speed records for sure! No need to worry about stopping the ram every time! It stops by itself! I do have room for improvement so I’ll rework the carabiners this week to allow for splits over 18” cause that was the situation yesterday… 😉

Thank you for the video. I think you could have got away with one eyebolt, at max, since the other end without the bolt would make it easier to unclip and just put the nrope over the other side and let it hang loose. Just a thought.

Thank you for your comments! I have already redesigned the rope route with double looped bowlines at the fixed anchor end, and it’s easier now to remove the rope from the “anchor” end for long splits and let the rope hang. Thanks for watching. See you on the next ☝🏻!!

The safety cable they provide is almost useless (aka a joke) and I broke the cable the first week. So now I just lift it off when not needed and add back on when necessary.
