Splitter won't start - CLEAN the CARB - Dirty Hand Tools gas splitter

I couldn't get my splitter to start, and it always started right away. It's about 5 or 6 years old and sits for a few months at a time. It will just start for a second or two and then stop. Ended up being the carb full of gel-like buildup. I cleaned it out with some spray carb cleaner/starter fluid and a rag and it fired right up.

Thanks for the video. My engine was still very clean, so I just removed the bowl while the carb was still on the engine, cleaned a little and made sure the float was moving, put the bowl back on and she fired right up.

Screw a bolt into that fuel line to stop the gas from running out. Good video!

I’ve had the same problem over the years with small engines. The gel comes from the ethanol and will form if it sits for a long period of time. Get non ethanol fuel and it will fix the problem.

Thanks for the breakdown... Very useful to watch this before I attempted mine... Although.... Mine has a different issue... It floods the entire engine whilst not being used. To the point the cylinder is fuel locked and the fuel find it's way too the engine oil. Hopefully I'll see the problem.

You can take bread ties and clean the jets out and other small holes

Hey I went to start my log splitter and the pull cord was very hard to pull I did pull it once but no more I noticed gas coming from the carburetor so I pulled it off cleaned it still nothing so I decided remove the spark plug and I noticed that there was fuel running out of the spark plug hole can you help
