Only tighten the rockers when the lobe is pointed down. I have had a couple LS come back with same problem. Since I started following the service manual instructions to tighten the rocker only when the lobe is down i havent had this happen anymore. Also make sure the rockers are straight. They can be a little off center when you tighten them (affecting ability to stay tight) and it is harder to keep them straight when the spring has tension on it.

Jordan it was probably the intake valve I'm thinking. So no air flow going into the cylinder. The exhaust valve still works but it closes at top dead center so there is no air what so ever. So 0 psi makes sense and it seemed like it created a vacuum too so 0psi makes sense to me bro

@@Cekmore @cekmore Gato I've been commenting trying to get a email address to send my resume/portfolio to, I sold my Wrap Shop last year after running out of money (there was a price war between the dozen shops here in Pasco and by the end of it all but 2 shops closed down, they had the financial backing that the rest of us didn't as we were self funded) and took a job driving semi trucks. I still do graphics design tho and I'm a 3M certified installer. I miss the business and with him growing this enterprise as much as he has already, they should be looking at getting a in house designer/vinyl guy for not only wraps/stickers/decals but also for merchandise design. I have 10 years experience in the industry and the portfolio to back it up, if I was still in business I'd be 💯 percent to sponsor a wrap but I sadly cannot without the equipment. However, if they ever look into bringing the work in house, I'm their guy, not only can it open up another stream of revenue (separate from their shop and KZbin income) but it will lower the cost of merchandise they are purchasing, giving them higher profit margins. Their following alone would skyrocket that section of the business, everyone in Bradenton love these guys, they are a walking, breathing, promotional machines.

this exact issue occurred with my gen II LT1 a couple years ago. (96 Super Sled), Scared me shitless, felt like she was breaking up with me... but it turned out to be the same situation as yours much to my relief... checking rocker torque after a few revs/runs on a re/new build is key ... those rocker studs can get squirrely when you introduce a motivated cam...I bet you never forget this day, i know ill never forget when it happened to me.... great video man, you got a good couple pulls out of her before she got loose on you. No matter what happens down the road with ruby, im a huge fan of this project,(maybe even more than leroy?) although it might not be what you were originally after with this build...its honestly even MORE relateable as a 200k+ mile 5.3 truck engine with a budget turbo kit...thousands of every-day, individuals are rocking a 4.8/5.3 LS GM V8 Truck/SUV and wishing their 200 HP truck was capable of producing more reliable power without breaking the bank. You just proved its not only possible, but easily attained and maintained, keep on rocking out and doing it for Dale man, fan for life here.

I had the exact same thing happen to me on my '78 Landcruiser the other day. Just did the head gasket and didn't do up the lock ring on ONE intake valve and I straight away thought the worst. Then I realised being a diesel, only a couple of things could be wrong. Sure enough, tearing the rocker cover off revealed a loose intake valve.

4:42 you hear that valve lash opening WAYYYY up, torque 'em all! 6:43 when it ran down on shutoff you could hear that one cylinder chugging against it's closed valve. Probably a good noise to memorize in case something like that ever comes up again.

i had LS1 lifter brace cracked and no3 inlet lifter rotated a few degrees and mashed cam lobe, it sounded a lot like this one

Heres a little trick for you from a mechanic When you put motors together use a paint marker pen , Say on the head bolts a line from the centre of the head of the bolt to the front. then as you torque them down you don't loose track of where you are. This also goes for main caps, rocker studs etc. As a mechanic you get customers, parts guys, all the interuptions that you don't need and its easy to loose track of where you are. Did I tighten that bolt?
