for the question at 4:56 , while this is speculation i feel like i may have an answer, alot of these sorts of shows that rely on the 'scared straight' sort of set up will often choose america as america has some of the loosest child protection laws in the developed world, and was one of the only countries not to sign for 'the convention on the rights of the child' an international commitment to children's rights as the ,name suggests, and low legal protections and lax enforcement means they can get away with alot more, and say if the kid goes back to the family traumatized or something it makes lawsuits incredible difficult, which for a production like this saves alot of money, and lowers risk. this is a massive issue in american and allows alot of legitimately abusive organizations to take root (ie much of the 'troubled teen' industry), and even harder to prosecute, especially if the parent has given consent. its very interesting but a pretty dark rabbit hole

I knew a coworker who was spoiled beyond what even happens in movies other than "Clueless." His dad owned a few Internet ISPs that served several major cities so he probably had a fortune. The guy wore new Gucci loafers to work at a job that pays barely minimum wage and drove a BRIIIIGHT red BMW M3. About six months later he crashed it. His dad upgraded him to an M5! Only five months passed and it had its front bumper smashed in but could still drive. For some reason, he never got that fixed. Then he decided he needed a motorcycle. His dad bought him a $20,000 Harley Davidson with new leather boots for it and tons of options. I wouldn't be surprised if he crashed that too because I only saw it once. He also used a $120 pen to work with and never ever had a phone longer than 18 months. Always had a new iPhone long before anyone else in the city. I guess his dad paid extra to get the phone earlier? How does one managed to get a new phone a week before the entire population? I never understood that. I've also seen a mom with a 6 year old kid. The kid had a new Palm PDA when those were going for $250 for a mid-grade model. Nowadays, it's not unusual to see one or two kids with the latest Ipad or Iphone. I wonder how much money some of these families have invested for the kids 30-40 years down the line considering that there's no way to tell if these people have money or are flexing.
