UGH These guys arent even asking the right questions.. What i need to know is who was the person who called the world serpent because whoever called him mustve been able to speak with the serpent, but it was confirmed by Mimir “the All-Knowing” that he was the only one who could converse with Jormungandr? Was that Tyr?? And where did Tyr run off to? What caused his death? If Kratos REALLY IS Tyr, by chance could it have been Kratos’ appearance in Midgaurd that killed off Tyr? What was Faye arguing with the other Giants about in that mural?? We need THESE questions answered for real!! Am i the only one??

I also love how in your first fight with baldur you're literally changing the structure of the landscape around you. you hear in so many legends or whatnot how a god's thrashing or fighting created mountains, canyons, etc and in the titanic clash of these two powerful gods that sort of power being tossed around is implemented beautifully. you could easily see in 1000 years or whatever some local shaman would tell of baldur and kratos's test of strength, "such was their power that they pushed the mountains apart and created the very valley we stand in now"

@SpartanBobo6 жыл бұрын
They could totally do 6-7 more games in the future and go into other mythologies, but I imagine when he says the story is written he means this story in norse mythology. Which would prolly be 2 more games and maybe a spinoff. We'll prolly have the mainline of this trilogy finished within 6-8 years give or take I imagine. The way the games play is already laid out now along with the story so its really just realizing those ideas into a character models and worlds now, and of course peppering in some stuff to change it up here and there.

I can't be more happy with how this interview went. To hear him talk about this labor of love and how much thought went into it makes me want to go back and play it all over again. As for me, my fave part would be at the end when they are in jotunheim and about to reach the peak and kratos decides to shead his bandages from his arms. To him and, by extension, us, this moment means so much cause of having known where those scars came from and what they lead to. But Atreus had no idea how important that moment is and he is just an excited kid who's dad is standing on the edge of a cliff doing something odd, so he immediately interrupts and asks if the can get going cause they are so close. It totally humanized both of them for me and I loved it! Thank you guys so much for posting this.... It was incredible

The first clue that the Atreus is Loki, is wehn Kratos uses the name of his Wife after the first fight with Baldur. He calls her "Faye". In Norse mythology the mother of Loki is Laufey. So its more like Lau-Faye. If you keep playing after the game Mimir calls Atreaus' mom Laufey the Just. Also Kratos' name in the giant language runes was Fárbauti, Loki's father in Norse mythology.
@dynamike5496 жыл бұрын
B0KI_86 your clearly paying attention. Thanks for pointing out that the giants called Kratos, Fárbauti. Kratos, being Loki's father kept me busy, but you cleared that up for me. Now a lot of people are saying that Kratos is laying dead in Atreus' arms on the murial at the end, but has anybody considered that the one laying in Atreus' arms isn't Kratos! Look at the colour of the clothing the man in his arms is wearing. Something doesn't ad up. And the thing coming out of Atreus' mouth is some form of speech! Not a serpent like some people are suggesting. What is your take on it?
@Boki_866 жыл бұрын
it's really difficult to say but i think it's intentionally that you can't see if i it is Kratos or not. On all panels before Kratos is facing left so you can recognize it is him because of the tattoo.

I immediately remembered the scene when they first reach the Lake of Nine and Atreus spots a statue in the water with the words, "Sacrifice your arms and awaken the cradle of the earth" and Atreus remarks to Kratos, "That shouldn't be a problem for you", hinting at the Leviathan Axe recall ability which , now in hindsight, Faye was well aware of, because it was her own axe. I found it interesting that the visual markers seemed etched on the wall and not natural rock breakers or markers, so Cory revealing that it Faye guiding them all along just blows my mind.

49:25 Everyone seems to think that the design coming from Atreus' mouth in the mural was Jormungandr himself. But this same style of drawing has been used in the Facebook prequel game, where Atreus hears voices taunting him or crying out in woe and agony. The design simply represents speech. There are words printed inside the speech coming from Atreus' mouth if you look close enough to the mural. My interpretation of the mural is Atreus either calling for help, casting a magical spell (unlikely), or reciting a prayer.

Cory you are a fucking genius, to take a risk and reinvent the entire franchise, and arguably a better game than the previous trilogy, and have it succed to a level it did, props man, thank you so much for this masterpiece.

i think that the reason Faye was so powerfull was because all of the giants sacrificed their life energy to her so that she could go on this quest. And the reason she wanted her ashes spread on jotunheim is because she gives the energy/ power back to the giants. Completing her quest and Awakening the giants from their slumber. Since the giants have an integral part in Ragnarok siding with Loke/ Loki in the destruction of the Aesir gods. And her ashes had a specifil magical glow to it.

Bro it kinda hurts they didnt talk about how awesome it was when Atreus spoke the world serpents tongue and the serpent lunged at the giant (my favorite moment, so badass)

So glad I was disciplined enough to not watch this until I beat the game. I got real tied up in finishing everything I could find ie Valks, exploring, rifts, favors, mus and nef the 2 end game zones, and anything else I could find. I probably played a good 60 hours before just now seeing the ending and all I can say is thank you to Cory and his team for making all of the other GoW games worth so much more. This game is a treasure and one of the best stories in gaming. They should feel very proud and I can't wait to see what is next in the sequel. So many of the things Cory said made moments and lore worth so much more then I first felt. Knowing how deep the thoughts on not only this game, but future GoW games are, I am so excited to see what comes next and how it will all end. As Huber said, I could go on and on about so many things we loved in GoW (like how this game has optional end game content that so many action single player games don't put in), but I will just leave it with this: Great video EZA thanks for the hard work, and holy shit Cory Barlog never stop making games, you are an awesome person with genius game design. You deserve great success for this, and I am sure your son is proud of his dad of war.

at 42:00 cory says that it's spoiler but doesn't the game explicitly say that? it tells you that she foresaw everything and decided that she would guide them most of the way. it's still a very epic moment and by epic I mean by the proper definition of the word because it really is an epic moment
@VectoredPromise6 жыл бұрын
He means she also literally placed the golden climbing symbols on every wall and ledge they climb
@aniforprez6 жыл бұрын
well when they leave the murals at the very end, just before they climb the peak, atreus literally shows you the symbols on the rock and tells you that they were probably made by the mother because she foretold the whole journey. it's not even side dialog it's told to you. the moment he said that it blew my goddamn mind and something i took completely for granted took a whole new meaning

I always liked when Kratos opened up and you expect Atreus to be shocked or disappointed, but then he reacts like a child. For example when Kratos tells him he is a god, Atreus just asks if he can turn into an animal;)

@kthebarbarian82236 жыл бұрын
João Anes I could see him running in order to protect Atreus. A tactical retreat more so out of strategy and concern than out of fear. Between the games lore and Mimir's stories, Thor does not sound like the type of guy you would want to fight with your kid around, no matter how helpful and resourceful he is. This is a Aesir who went on a Jotnar killing spree and has Mjolnir. I'm really hyped and can't wait to see how that battle will eventually turn out, but it likely won't happen in the next game either as it comes at the end of Fimbulwinter and the real start of Ragnarok.
@artstudioudara52736 жыл бұрын
If he runs, its better be the reason to hide Atreus and afterwards face Thor mano o mano. These guys need to touch some wood for their words. Kratos run out of fear.... Man, Cory pls!!! Don't be the next Rian Johnson!!!!!

I have to speak about my absolute favorite story point in the game because I haven’t heard anyone mention it. And it’s so innocuous but powerful. When Kratos is trapped in Tyr’s temple and atreyus has to stop the chains from spinning, he uses his mother’s knife to save his father. The man who he has resented for so long and somewhat hates. He used his last memento of his dead mother to save Kratos. In that moment he let go. He was beginning his journey to truly moving on and starting to love his father. And I love how it is just kind of glossed over. It’s not a big moment where they talk about the importance of the knife, atreyus just matter of factly writes it off and they continue on. Truly powerful in my opinion.

I'm surprised Baldur was able to remain sane for that long. I would've had went insane in a few months of not being able to feel or taste anything. I felt so sad for him when his final word was, "Snow." Because he was feeling it for the first and last time.
