On one hand "Rotten Piñata" was the debut cd for Sponge (from Detroit) released in 1994, including the hit "Sixteen Candles". On the other hand Kay Hanley with "Letters to Cleo" (from Boston) released the celebrated "Aurora Gory Alice" also in 1994 and was at the peak of her popularity: the single "Here & Now" was included in a very famous TV show from the period, and then re-released becoming a massive hit.
Note: this footage was downloaded several years ago from the LTC website, it was a wmv file and was cut at the bottom, so i did what i could to get as closest as i could to the original broadcast. I noticed that two more guys uploaded this same file before but I wasn't convinced by either of the two publications.

I really miss the feeling of the 90s and early 2000s I feel like it’s chasing the dragon … no matter how badly we want it, no matter how many reboots and rehashes occur or situations you try and manipulate that end feeling is just out of reach … just beyond our grasp

That is what Fitzgerald meant in the famous last line of the Great Gatsby: “So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.” We keep trying to get back to the glorious past, but time pushes us forward instead.

@@palerider364 well put sir. It’s incredibly short sighted to be that way and I’ll fully admit I am guilty of looking back trying to regain feelings lost. It’s also very frustrating… I want so badly to be impressed, intrigued, pulled in by shiny new stuff that excites and stimulates growth. Maybe its me alone that has the power … it’s exhausting being even a part time miserable cynic about everything that doesn’t fit neatly into the box in trying to shove it in.

Man, I'd do just about anything to go back to 1995 again, and to be 15/16 years old all over again, too. This music, and these bands, such as Sponge and Letters To Cleo, but the whole time back then, too, was just such an awesome time. Everyone always says that people only, and always, say that because it was their time, and because they were young...but honestly, and whether that's true, or not, the '90s really was excellent, whether you're talking about the early, middle, or even the tail end of that decade. Everything was better...the music, TV shows, movies, no weirdness, no political correctness bulls**t yet that has, unfortunately, ruined our society, and every single form of entertainment within it...the list could go on, and on, and on. Here's to a better time, and to a better decade, too...🍻.

You're absolutely right! I was a frustrated teenager then and thought everything was boring and lame but now I realize that it was actually a great time to be coming of age. Since time has gone by and the landscape actually has gotten really lame I now wish that I had enjoyed and appreciated it more and not spent so much time being angry and unnecessarily worrying about dumb sh*t. A classic case of I wish I knew what I know now when I was younger! 🤘😎
@mikevogler5455
@mikevogler5455 Ай бұрын
@InnumerableStars Most definitely the way I now feel, too. It's funny how when we're younger, all we want to do is to grow up. Yet, when we get there/here, all we want to do then is just go back again. Whether that be to relive fun times, or to have straight up "do overs" from within our lives. I'd love to be able to go back and see all of my Family again that have passed, and get to relive a lot of my fun times with them. Life's a vicious, and a b**ch, too, of a d**n circle. 😎🤘

@@mikevogler5455 Man, I hear ya loud and clear regarding the do-overs and appreciating the lost loved ones more and again. I'm certainly grateful that fellas like you and I didn't grow up with our faces buried in a screen, we won't freak out and hyperventilate if the lights go out, we'll know how to cope and have a good time! Your comment rocks! Be well brother! 🎸

@@InnumerableStars Most definitely, and agree, too, with all of that. I remember back in the '90s, during my teen years, and even during the '80s, too, during my childhood days, there were several times when the power was out for over a week, due to severe snow/ice storms, and we all got by just fine; no TV, no video games, no phones back then (which was wonderful!), and went outside. Unfortunately, kids nowadays don't know how to function/survive without the power, electronics, and phones, too. Hate to have an "old man rant" on here, but it's the truth. I'm 45 years old now, and even had emergency brain surgery, after coming close to dying, back in 2020, and enjoy, and appreciate, so much more now than I did before that. Life's crazy, that's for certain. Nice chatting with you, and sharing our past stories/experiences. You be well, also. Take care of yourself, and good luck with everything. 🙂👍
