While watching this series I have come to the unfortunate realization that I grew up on modern SpongeBob. I have seen every episode that was featured in this video. I was 7 years old when season 7 started airing, Disney channel was dominated by boring sitcoms, PBS only had kids shows in the morning, and I wouldn’t be allowed to watch Cartoon Network until 3 years later. Watching this series does not fill me with the shock and horror that these episodes exist, but rather a cursed nostalgia for a time when my options were so limited that the hyper realistic depictions of injury and illness found on the only show on Nickelodeon at the time was the preferable option. This was truly a harrowing experience.

something i didn't realise until recently: mr. lawrence is literally one of the earliest and most enduring contributors to the writing of spongebob. he worked on rocko's modern life with stephen hillenberg, and has been a writer for spongebob since 1999. the earliest episode he worked on was 'tea at the treedome', and he basically co-wrote half of season 1. mr. lawrence was partially responsible for much of the golden age of spongebob. no wonder he's the only good one left.

Okay, I have to be devils advocate here. _Technically,_ eugenics is a scientifically based concept. It is basically the idea of selective breeding for desired traits, but instead of applying it to dogs, eugenics is applying it to people. It’s still fucked up and wrong, don’t misunderstand what I’m saying. I’m saying that saying it’s unscientific and a pseudoscience like astrology or homeopathy is not accurate. It’s more like using chemistry to make mustard gas. Yes, it’s still technically science, but it’s science that shouldn’t happen. Basically, eugenics is to science as American politics is to debate. It technically falls under the category, but is one of the worst examples you could ever choose.
