I actually liked this episode back when it came out. It was good for what it was and it was satisfying that at the end spongebob actually got what he wanted which was to spend time with all his friends. Also since I lived in another country when this came out it wasn’t as overhyped but still had the marathon of episodes. I think Nickelodeon was mostly relying on the song to be popular and in some way it worked for them.

I disagree with the point of view most reviewers have about it. The complaint everyone has is that the promotion raised their expectations more than what it offered and no one talks about the goods and bads of the episode. As a simple episode(and I view it as just that) it's one of my favourites. The jokes, while only a few, hit bullseyes which is extremely rare for post movie spongebob, the plot was well put out , the song is one of the best songs of the whole show and the ending was just heartwarming. It's one of the few times we had all the main characters gathered up and be in their original characters before the dark era began. Judge something on what it is , not what you expect it to be

That was the time when it was realized this new Spongebob that came after the first movie was not the show we knew before (in my opinion). I have read that Steven Hillenburg, the creator of Spongebob, wanted Nickelodeon to make The Spongebob Squarepants Movie the series finale. There comes a time when TV shows need to end and as much as I love Spongebob, it's no exception. After seeing how more seasons and/or episodes of a show doesn't always mean success for a show, I realize now that TV shows were meant to last for a certain time and will eventually leave just for the creations that were inspired by it to take its place. I think if Nickelodeon made the right decision to be more creator-friendly and let Steven Hillenburg end his show on his terms, Nickelodeon could have a better reputation. Also, I was surprised of how overly-hyped Nickelodeon wanted their fans to get for this one episode of Spongebob. I would like creators and channels to promote their content more honestly. Still enough to get people interested but not to over do it where people get the wrong idea and could be disappointed.

when this episode premiered, my sister and i were both wondering what the hell just happened. it was mostly just spongebob singing the same song in short bursts. the best laugh we got out of the whole thing was when the episode was over and they cut back to patchy with a bunch of kids on the cruise. the kids all looked disappointed if not pissed off and patchy had a sort of "oh shit, this all went horribly wrong and i need to disappear" look in his face and tone in his voice as he nervously gave his farewell to the event.

I think the saddest part of the whole *Best Day Ever* disaster was that the song wasn't even original, it was just a snipped down version of the credits song (one of them) of the Spongebob Squarepants movie, which was *in the marathon* At least Best Day Edder and The Powerpuff Girls 10th Anniversary Marathon had something exciting to build up to: the BDE had *The Picture Show* and The Powerpuff Girls' marathon had *PPG Rule!* to keep a kid hyped.

I remember liking the Best Day Ever episode, back when it was new. Looking back on it now, it really was a big disappointment. I hate it when something is getting super hyped, and then it's a huge let down. I think the same implied with Truth or Square. I remember Nickelodeon hyped that 1 hour special with everything they had, and it wasn't all that amazing. I was expecting it to show Spongebob's origins. A story before the pilot episode(Help Wanted). Boy, was I wrong... Patchy being there with those guest stars wasn't making the story interesting. At the time, I didn't know most of them. The only actress I knew was Pink. You know, the Truth or Square game was a lot better then the special. The cast was referencing stuff from actual episodes. It's story was completely original. This is not the only example. Do you guys remember the episode 'Spongebob Longpants', if you do, that means you might remember all of the advertising for it. It was being advertised as the best Spongebob episode in years. But in reality, it was only 11 minutes, and wasn't that good.
