Anastasia, you have created a beautifully calm and restoring painting, with your signature gorgeous contrasts of dark green and burnt sienna - absolutely glorious! Thank you ! And your honesty and openness about your frustrations with not achieving what you aimed for initially, show us all that just by consciously slowing down and "trusting the process " you can create real beauty (although not as wonderfully as you 😊). Thank you so much for your encouragement, Anastasia . x

I'm the same when painting. I get the best results when I'm relaxed and in the zone. Because I work full time, I've now gotten myself into the habit of pacing myself. Doing bits of painting when I've got relaxing downtime, instead of trying to finish a painting in a short space of time. Seeing my paintings slowly take shape gives me the satisfaction and motivation to keep going. Whenever I rushed through a painting, the results were disheartening, and at their worst, traumatising 😂; and it would take me some time to collect myself and try again.
@AnastasiaMily6 ай бұрын
Yes!! I feel exactly the same. I think letting the scene unfold gently over a few painting sessions is such a peaceful and unhurried way to make art. I always have a few paintings on the go at the same time so I can switch between them when I feel stuck. I believe listening to ourselves and to our paintings and getting to know what works for us is what leads to growth… I do get an occasional traumatising result too 😂 Again, all part of the process of figuring it all out! Thank you for watching my channel, and happy painting!

It is so peaceful, this scene! I love this piece. I’m going back to spontaneous painting soon. I love it so much. You make the calmest videos Anastasia. So grateful for you and your channel here and Instagram. As I’ve said, that beautiful sailboat painting touched my heart and reminded me of our sailboat Stargazer. Blessings! 💗Rita

Well, it certainly relaxed me watching you paint this wonderful watercolour. So much so, that I nodded off and had to rewind back to where I last recalled the scene. My excuse is being 75! You are an exceptionally gifted artist. Your colour palette choices are sublime.

A very beautiful painting. Getting the result, you are looking for brings great satisfaction. Thanks for sharing your honest emotions that an artist goes through until you birth on the paper what is the beauty that is inside you. This is great encouragement to struggling artists who know what they are trying to express while seemingly falling short of their goals. I know it encouraged me, thanks.

Oh!! I sooo needed to watch this today!! I´ve been in a creative "funk" lately. It seems that everything I try to paint just doesn't come up to expectations!! Watching this tutorial that teaches how to "let go" and enjoy the painting process has done the trick! Add to that the fact that I went to Jerry's Artarama here in Miami just to check out what supplies were available and found tubes of Daniel Smith manganese blue, quinacridone sienna and aussie red gold, respectively (colors that I had been looking for the past 6 months!) made my day!!! On top of that (talk about serendipity), I also found an excellent supply of 100% cotton cold pressed watercolor papers! Long story short, I went thinking I'd find nothing and found a treasure trove! Also some brushes to replace my very old and well used ones. Serendipity once again!! I ended up getting a club membership for $25.00 USD that gives me a 20% discount on all supplies. Thank you so much for your tutorials. They have made an immense difference in my painting! G-d bless!

And this landscape brought back beautiful memories of the Tuscan countryside I visisted so many years ago when I went as part of an exchange program when I was in graduate school student majoring in Romance languages. Tante grazie!!

I appreciate you being more open about your process. And the added explanations as you work. After 53 years of marriage to a man who was my best friend 8 months ago I hear his voice as I paint. “You are trying too hard…” and so I’m giving myself permission not to be perfect and learn.

Do you buy metallic paint or use an additive or is it just looking metallic
@AnastasiaMily6 ай бұрын
No metallic paints in this one, I don't really use them in my landscapes. It is probably just the effect the pigments create on the textured surface of the paper. I do have a tube of Red Fuchsite Genuine by Daniel Smith that has a lovely shimmer but I haven't picked it up in a long time - thank you for the idea!
