This method of painting with watercolours is unlike any I've watched before. Another commenter below said that beginners get bogged down and don't know how to move forward. That's so right. Mostly because beginners are always trying in class or at home, to produce a recognisable "thing" from a photo or a still life or whatever. I look at this type of work and realise that imagination is actually so much better. All beginners should be taught to paint in this way. Given, perhaps, a colour list and told to just play with it.

I dabbled in watercolor in art school and loved it, but I didn’t have time to really get into it as it was not my focus. I stumbled upon your channel by accident and I am so glad I did. You’ve inspired me to invest my time in learning it again. Your videos are full of so much helpful information and skill. I’ve ordered my supplies and can’t wait to jump on in with it. Thank you for taking the time to make these, I hope they keep on coming.

Watching your previous videos as there is valuable content and I need to learn so much. It just amazes me as I watch you paint these spontaneous the process you do and what my untrained eye grabs hold of. As you paint I watch and don’t see where you’re going. Just a wash. Then like magic the landscapes begin to appear and I cannot unsee it. I have tried a couple and need to explore more. Perhaps I give up too fast before the magic happens. And I also need to learn to control my water and pigment on the brush to get lighter shading Ans “pushing back” defining of areas and outlining. Thank you for sharing your talents. ❤

I'm a digital artist who has decided to go back to basics with real pencil drawing, and am doing an online course to develop my skills. I only came across this artist because part of the course involves using Canson 'Heritage' paper (100 per cent cotton). However my mind is swept away at this artists skill and presentation. I do not do this normally, but to help the artist I let some of the adverts play through all the way, as a little thankyou to 'The Mind of Watercolor' to contribute as a way of saying thankyou. Subscribed!

For someone who is a total beginner (and can't draw to save her life), your videos are so incredibly helpful. I've been dabbling with watercolor pencils since last year and loved them, so today I bought my first set of watercolors. It took me so long to decide if I should or not get those paints! But these spontaneous videos that you do remind me of how life is - you really don't know where you're going until you start, and failure is 100% part of the process. So why not? It's not like I have the wish to be the next Dürer 😆 Or to even be an artist. I just want to create for myself. So, thank you! I feel like I learned so much from watching you already.

This is probably the eighth or ninth time I’ve watched this and it’s still informative! I put your videos on when I’m doodling and all of a sudden i find myself attempting a spontaneous piece! Completely your fault and i totally thank you!! I just hope that i can “see” the shapes as easily as you appear to someday! How do you lay the colors down for the base so readily? That’s always where i get hung up, i spend too much time doing that and then it stops being spontaneous!? Thanks again, i hope you’re well my friend 👍🪠🧮
