It genuinely pains me that some people say it's a "skill issue" if you think that this thing is op. And I can't tell if they're being trolls or actually think that. Like yea the shell doesn't have a ton of pen, but neither does the Sherman and yet that thing still wrecks with the great cannon at that BR (not even taking the stabilizer into account), combine that with a lower BR, where you face things that aren't armored and the fact it's a casemate and has a low profile allows it to hide in places where the building sized Sherman can't even get into.

The main reason the SAV looks so different to other Swedish vehicles is that while most Swedish tanks were designed by Landsverk, the SAV prototype was entirely made by Bofors, and it was built around the autoloading cannon (which comes from a ship design). Hence the unusual appearance.

From my research (also just a google search) it was a private venture by Bofors to make a new gun, and they built the 20.12.48 as a test bed and showcase to displays the gun ability, so it didn't really have or need a use.

From what I can tell there are two factors for HE penetration. HE filler determined the „blast“ penetration while shell weight influences how the penetration reduction rate at range. A light round can have 30mm of pen but might struggle to penetrate adjacent plates to the impact which are only 10-15mm.

I pray that you get better and when you have the time you should definitely try the domestic Italian casemate tank destroyers (m41, m42, m43) they are so fun. They have some of the best guns in tier imo especially the first one having a 75mm gun with APCBC at 2.0 and 2.3. All of them aren’t open top and they have decent speed and turret flexibility.

Think of it as the fever dream that later became the Strv 103: something that hides and lurks, then - as you blunder into range - pops up to give you a devastating flurry of hard blows that bloodies your nose, before pulling back to wait for you to come get some more.
