As a new player this has been my main tank. You cannot believe the amount of joy this video brings me to see it actually doing something against panzer IV’s (my worst nightmare). I found it was perfect for jamming myself in a corridor and tanking everything lighter than a tank destroyer round with its thick frontal armour. The map with the shopping mall you called a COD map is actually my favourite for this tank. Limited opportunities to be flanked, i once got my tracks and barrel destroyed in one of the hallways, and the 5 enemy’s in front of me just had to sit there and wait while I repaired as they couldn’t do anything to that front plate. Good luck with the “Archer” that came before this, paper mache for armour and a backwards mounted gun you needed to spin 180 to use…. Absolutely impossible unless camping

The thing that saves it is the fact it gets neutral steering. There’s no angled armor, but with Neutral steering you can *become* angled before enemies can take a shot at you. I loved playing this early in the British tree, and I usually don’t like ground

In WoT once you unlocked the 17pounder you were able to install it in the 3 Inch Gun Carrier. It turned you into the slowest sniper on the map, but once you got into position you could touch ANYBODY on the map. Also, the 17pounder is longer than your vehicle, but it was fun, when it worked.

Internal stowage included a provision for 12 HE explosive rounds as well as the AP ones.[15] As an anti-tank gun, the 3-inch gun had a maximum range of 12,000 yards and was a bit more effective than the 57 mm QF 6-pounder at 1,000 yards but less than the 76.2 mm QF 17-pounder under development.[16] The pilot vehicles were ready for testing in early 1942 and found to be satisfactory. However, in order not to impede production of the Churchill (with the 6-pounder gun) the order was reduced to 24 vehicles. Vauxhall, the main designer and lead manufacturer of the Churchill was already set up for full production of the Gun Carrier with parts and armour ordered and complained with the result that the full order was re-instated before being cut back to 50.[17][14] The 50 were built between July and November 1942 during which they were the subject of debate about whether they were artillery or tanks. The decision came down in favour of tank, and the Department of Tank Design asked for some changes; by that point in production these could not be incorporated.[17] The prototype was built by Vauxhall and had a T-number, the other 49 by Beyer, Peacock & Company in Manchester, got WD numbers with an S prefix, the same as self-propelled guns.[16] Requirements and tactics had in the meanwhile changed again to focus on the general purpose 75mm gun in the Churchill and a smaller proportion of 17-pounder tanks in use, of which work on the Cruiser Mk VIII Challenger was making progress. None are known to have been used in combat as the 17-pounder anti-tank gun gave the British the necessary firepower. Some had the gun removed and converted to the "Snake" mine-clearing line charge device and used for trials and training of that in 1942-43.[17][14] One unrestored survivor is held at The Tank Museum, it had been used at Lydd Ranges as a target.[18]”

Fun fact: you CAN die to 50 cal. Check the armor view on the side. There is a big unarmored box through which 50s can set your engine on fire and at the right angle even kill your crew.

I don't think i saw u use the neutral steering in this thing much, but its one of my favorite parts of it which the regular churchills either dont have or are too heavy to use very effectively. On level ground that neutral steering makes it pretty fun to wiggle around and angle in between shots, def one of my fav low tier british tanks next to the cromwell

The 3-inch Gun Carrier is a good tank for its tier. Preferably play with it as sniper or for ambushes. Its cannon will penetrate most armour at its tier, except frontal armour of some.
